battery access is to the side, similar to the 12R, but improved. I am assuming the air filters are accessed from the top covers

Looks like top access to the battery as well (that was kinda my point but I know it's still early so I'll let that one slide, yes you can thank me later ).

Sources state that the hatch you see is not "top access" to the battery tray. (although I have been mislead in the past)

Air filter access is through a panel on the left side of the frame per Kawi's technical specs.

Add a seat and tank, and that is exactly what my bike is going to look like. Very "Industrial"......Can't call it a street fighter. No one is going to show up to fight. Increased power-to-weight-ratio. Fuck the fairing!
Battery is accessed at the right side. Follow the coolant hose behind the head. The cover with the half moon cutout is the battery case housing. Note the black air pressure sensor placed on the left top plate of the ram air case/frame. Those two removable covers (sensor on one) look like a potential air leak to disrupt ram. What in the fuck are they, and what is their purpose? The air cleaner won't fit through those two cover plates. I need a shop manual for some answers.
If you click on the url, you can see the red positive lead to the battery, plus the negative lead bolted to the frame. The size of the air cleaner uses another door. Note the black pressure sensor hanging down in the intake chamber.

I wonder if disconnecting that chamber sensor would trigger a check engine light?... (if the cluster shows it). Would it shut down the primary plate from opening? Kind of give a Busa half a chance, wouldn't you think?. OK, I was kidding. It's the buds burning in the bong talking. Don't mind me.

You're on the money for sure D. I really don't have a clue? I've been out of the loop big time! I need an upgrade from points and condensers no doubt. I need a quick learning curve. Any post you can recommend would be appreciated. Going on a 12 search now. Thanks.

"The Honda Blackbird has already been waiting in the wings for several years and could easily be readied for next year"
Is that 2007?
"Suzuki Hayabusa is also overdue for replacement, and Japanese sources say the bike to take it's place is ready. However, the firm has delayed the machines launch to take stock of the ZZR-1400"
Is that 2007 also?
Anybody know if any of the above is true or not? What if anything have you heard regarding either the replacement for the Blackbird or Hayabusa? I'm on line to get the ZX-14 but if Honda has a all new Blackbird waiting in the wings, shoudl I wait? I've already waited 3 yrs for them to do something, anything! I prefer Honda's over all other bikes. What if I wait until 2007 and Honda doesn't come though? What if I get the ZX-14 and they do come though with a new Blackbird? Then I'll be trying to sell the ZX-14 to buy the Bird? This sucks!
This all had better be just rumors, or else I'm in a real situation here..........

They are talking about 2007.
As for 'Bird and 'Busa replacements or revisions there is nothing but vapor-type rumors.
The 'Busa will likely be equally fast as the ZX-14 but the Honda I would bet will not be. They were content before to leave the Blackbird much slower than the ZX-12R and Hayabusa and I don't see a reason to expect that corporate philsophy to change.
Even when the 'Bird came out they did not choose to make it significantly faster or more powerful than the then-old ZX-11, though they easily could have. The last time Honda wanted to make the really fastest bike, was the CBX.

I feel yer pain.
The Honda thang puts another spin on the dilemma too.
Only thing is the Honda bland (ha-ha, I know - it really wasn't that funny) won't cut it with 14's and Busas as the competition even though as an overall bike, the XX was really good.
Unless the new XX makes a real statement, Honda will just be stealing Beemer 1200 customers for a few $ grand less.

The issue I had with Honda over the Blackbird wasn't about the lack of power, it was enough for me I guess, but my issue with them was that they either STOP making them or importing them or what have you. I sold the Blackbird I had because the rumors were that they'd be launching the 2004, CBR1200XX (this was back in sumer of 03'). So I sold the bike, waited and then nothing. Even if they just countinued to make the freaking things, I would have bought one, changes or not but they didn't and for the next 3 yrs I had to watch others ride. Now comes along the ZX-14 and it's a bike I really like (and have one ordered), but before it even gets here there's rumors Honda MIGHT do something in 2007!
Pulling at my heart strings IS NOT funny Honda (if you're listening).

Road rage,
Sorry but here in Japan we find no rumor about new Blackbird even on the Honda-biased rags.
Though one rag reported recently that Honda have finally gave up making V-5 hyperbike.
