Finland Bike Show feelings (text only)

While sitting on the ZX-14/ZZR-1400 I found it easier on the hands than the ZX-12R.
I would use ZX-10R if I needed a track bike or if I'd be smaller.
I'm 180cm and in Xmas condition (still under 200 lbs, I hope).
While sitting close to the tank
(avoiding "nutcracker" effect under heavy breaking)
I could easily hold my legs together
the seat is narrow and the tank curves inside.

The front wheel was easy to turn, the gauges readable,
but the windshield was much too low
unless I leaned heavily over the tank.
I just have to get an adjustable extension .
Thw controls are where they should be.

The seat was so long that 3 Japanese could easily fit in
and even 2 lard-ass Americans.
I think I would modify the seat so
that the co-pilot will sit closer and
the seat supports the driver during extreme acceleration.

The knee angle was good for the passanger,
but not so easy for the driver.
I would call this a SPORTS-tourer.

Compared to the new GoldWing from Honda
the front was quite narrow,
but seamed enormous when close to the Ninja 6RR.

In order to get the weight down
one should immediate replace the dual exthaus
with a single exthaus made out of titanium.

I think I'll opt for the grab handle & centre stand
despite the added weight (as well as ABS)
and: TRE, PCIII USB, Scorpio alarm, heated grips,
Scott-Oiler (or CLS-200), extra power outlets, etc...

The bike gave me a feelings of quality in details
and a pleasent overall glamour looks
I didn't even remember the g(r)ills anymore

The enthusiasm faded away now that I sat on the bike.
BUT
Now I need to test drive it!!!

VPN, nice article.
Happy for you , you got to sit on it and close inspection.
For seats I was thinking Tobin.
If enough people request them maybe they will make them for our bike?

Thanks Ozzy.
Thats 1 of 25 pics I have on the album.
As you can tell, I have never posted pics online before.

Is there a simple way to copy and paste the url address?

If you guys are interested, my album is open to all viewers,
http://www.imagestation.com
do a search for edmonton zx14.

I could not be bothered to enter a gazzilion digits for each picture.
What a pain in the ass.
I type with 3 fingers!!!!!!!

I'm going out to the garage where I belong, and my serenity exists.
I'll pick wrenches over computers any day.

It seems that it is better to use
http://www.imagestation.com/...path.../zx14_001.jpg
...
http://www.imagestation.com/...path.../zx14_768.jpg
rather than full sized pictures using [img] tags
because some people _still_ don't own a broadband
(I've been told)

I have never lived in Rovaniemi
which is in the artic circle
where you could have one three day night
and one three day day
The norther you go the longer the darkness period
(lightness in summer)

On the poles the effect is at peak
Several factors limit it:
atmospere bends and scatters the light
Sun is not a mathematical dot, but a circle
etc...

I lived in Oulu up until about 22 years
and there you have dark nights, mornings and evenings
During the summer it's the opposite

The darkness depresses people
but modern invention - the lightbulb - saves us

The darkness depresses people I bet so. If money was no object I would like to travel all over the world and see how everyone elses lives. And then determine where I would stay.. VPN whats the climate like where you live? Do you have any good places to ride like www.tailofthedragon ( deals gap) or the Cherahala skyway? What about speed limits? What happens if you get caught?? Any crazy laws there?

Climate? close to Boston? The Golf stream makes it ok.
Use the web weather services
there are no supercool riding places, unfortunately
Speed limits: xpress ways 120 and 100 kph, main ways 100 and 80
city areas 50 and 40, close to schools, etc. 30
some areas where streets & yards are combined for people to walk
20 and 10 kph, 1 mile = 1609,3 meters
small speeding +8kph usually ignored on over 60 kph speeds
Speeding -16kph gives you 115 euros
but above 15kph, less than 25 it depends on your income
above 25 your drivers license is suspended for a period, perhaps 6 months
and you just might get jailed
http://www.poliisi.fi/poliisi/lp/home.nsf/pages/346EC1B6650EA748C2256BB5003FD54C
translation follows:
Teko = deed, Ylinopeus=Speeding, rajoitus=(speed) limit, enint.=at most, yli=over
Ylinopeus 25km/h, rajoitus enint. 60 km/h = Speeding 25kph, speed limit at most 60kph
Nettotulo euroa / kk = Nett income euros / month
Huollettavia = custodies (kids)
Verotettava omaisuus = Taxable property (20~50% of market value, your house/flat, stock)
Päiväsakkoja = "Day Fines" eg. penalty per day net income
This is the same multiplier for everyone, depending on the the traffic offence
Sakko = fine (ticket) depends on your income. It will ALWAYS hurt your wallet
Päiväsakon liukuma olosuhteista riippuen +/- 2-4 ps
= Day-Fine sliding depending on circumstances +/- 2-4 DFs
which means that if you put others in real danger you will get some extra...

Päiväsakon rahamäärä määräytyy vähentämällä
= DayFine money amount is determined by subtracting from

nettokuukausituloista peruskulutusvähennys 255 euroa
= net income the basic-use-deduction 255 euros

ja jakamalla saatu erotus luvulla 60. Päiväsakon alin
= and dividing the resulting remainder by number 60. DayFInes lowest

euromäärä on vähintään 6 euroa. Ylinopeussakon
=euro amount is at minimum 6 euros. Speeding ticket

minimisumma on kuitenkin 115 euroa.
minimum amount is yet 115 euros

Just to save You for going big the limits are infact 15kph and 20 kph. In rular area the fines for 15kph over is 85€ and 115€ for 20kph over. Outside cities the fines are 70€ and 100€... And You'll loose Your license over 30kph. And there is unfortunately quite a lot of surveillance here. We do have nice roads, but not like on mountains. And after 20kph You can get very heavy fines - I think the record is over 100000€ for one of NOKIA:s bosses...
