Alarm systems (remote paging) ?

Who makes the best alarm systems?
My rottweiler only works at home!! LOL
Something with a motion sensor, not sensitive to wind but to being leaned off the sidestand.
Remote pager with good distance, so I can catch the SOB and beat the life out of em.!!! LOL
Anyone had any?
Might be a good write up (alarm sytems) for the future fish!

Check ebay, type in motorcycle alarm. There are good deals there sometimes though the scorpio alarms can be pricey at $325 ea.

Which ones have the best distance.
There are many different types but which ones work?
Thanks for the reply zx12mark, I'm kind a uneasy about using a system that may be damaged from weather.

Scorpio's are well known remote page alarms.

Personally, I don't like aftermarket alarms due to the various cut/splice methods required for installation.

Vehicles are far more sensitive to (milli)voltage drop now than they ever were before - you only need a slight variance to really mess up the program.

That's what full coverage insurance is for anyway.

And no, I really don't leave my bike anywhere that I can't usually see it.

I'm not sure what it's like anywhere else.....but here in Alberta, you MUST have an alarm on any new bike if you want to get insurance....no insurance company will touch you without one, it's written right in their policys.....

so, ya, this is a good thread as I have just put down a deposit for a new bike and am currently shopping around for an alarm system.....so post up guys...... inquiring minds want to know

So what did ya get JJ?

I didn't know that about yer market - kinda surprised Kawi doesn't just make their immobilizer system an option then.

well, as far as I know, Alberta is the only place that has that stipulation and Alberta is over the top when it comes to insurance....now, whether it flows to other parts, I don't know....on one hand, I can see the point as most bikes stolen are lifted into a truck/van....on the other hand, it's a little much....so, for a manufacturer to make it an option, right now, I'm not sure it would be profitable....maybe in the future. Either way, I still need an alarm....

if you don't do it yourself find a professional car installer to do a side job at his house. pay him on the side.let him take his time.dei products will take the vibrations that a bike will transmit. you can hide alot of box's on a sport bike. ask around.

My bike is rarely out of my sight, so any alarm I get is just to satisfy the insurance company. Do the disc locks with the sirens qualify?
My garage is hooked up to my home alarm, I don't ride my bike to work as I have a comapny vehicle, so an alarm is just an extra cost for me.
The ZX 14 has an ignition immobilizer, I wonder if this will be enough for the insurance companies?

zrexer.....
ask your insurance company if you need one (or better yet, if they don't tell you, keep quiet).....not all insurance companies in Alberta are making it a prerequisite, (yet) and the ones that are it's for "new" bikes only (less than 2 years old)....and if they do ask for one, then ask about the disc locks with the sirens (I'm assuming that your speaking of the Zena).....I know Primus (TD) insurance insisted on a "full" alarm system with motion, tilt, and alarm light.....they were the worst, but also the cheapest.....others just needed a tilt alarm, so, then I would think that the Zena would work.....but like I said, your insurance company is the best to ask,....it's better to find out now, then when you need to make a claim...
