zx14 or zx10?
I'm having a hard time deciding on which bike to purchase. I currently own a 02 blue zx12r , 1290 kit and nos. Bike makes 253 hp on a 60 shot and 190-195(motor) on a dynojet 250. I drag race my zx12 and do trackdays with it. I love my zx12 but i've got the itch to get a new bike.
Naturally, either bike i purchase will get modified. If its a zx10 it will get the carpenter supposed "200 hp treatment". If i buy the zx14 it too will be highly modded as well.
ps: i don't have enough funds to buy both and i'm 41 years old. Whatever that means?
Any thoughts. comments or suggestions is appreciated!

Well dude. Tell you like this on the tight twisties your better on the 10 for sure and the track. I got a killer 10 now and got a 14 on order.. The 10 is cramped for big boys and the new model is even more cramped. At deals gap the 10 will eat you up the 14. The 14 is going to be more smoother and user friendly and way more torque but its not going to be a wild ride like a modded 10. I have 168 rwhp on mine and at 120miles and hour the front will not stay on the ground and roast the back out of corners and the wheel reaches for the sky. Your going to get off more on a 10. But for the cons of comfort and torque. There is no such thing as a perfect bike.! Hope this helps you..

So how tall are you, mrsantafe?
AND
personally I did not like the ZX-12R as it is, I had to lean on my wrists
ZZR1200 and Busa were alright
So for me, 180cm, the ZX-14 will be much better than ZX-10R
Furthermore,
we both (Nina&I) are going ride it on a holiday through Europe
It's for highspeed touring through the German express ways
where my faithful hearth will beat restlessly
when in terror I grip to my bride who tries to top 300km/h
and then up to the Alps (not through tunnels) watching for sunset
to paint the icy mountain tops red - Passion Red
Finally settling down to the banks of the beautiful lake Garda

It depends if you want to DragRace with a BIG BLOCK or a SMALL BLOCK...
I will get the 14 for that very reason!!!

I vote 10R. I'm not convinced the ZX14 will be all that just yet.
I will wait for a 2007 model ZX14 since this is an "all new" platform.
The ZX10 is already a proven winner. So if it's a toss up for your money, I'd recommend the 10R. They are making 168rwhp showroom stock, with the mods you're talking it should be quicker lighter and faster than your current 1290 ZX12.
Don't forget you can always add a 60 shot on the 10R too.

Then I want all my money back for all my mods including 1400 for full Ti Force exhaust and Power commader, and I want my money back for the muzzy thin head gasket and my money for having my cams degreed and not to metion all the damn labor in order to pull the motor out... I guess I need to contact the BBB and handle this like I'm handling my Arai helmet which I got fuck over on as well....

Well i appreciate all your comments and suggestions. I'm probably going to go for the zx10 and get it modded by carpenter. Like Bergie stated it will beat my zx12. I like the zx14 alot because of the power and the comfort. I'm not old yet but i find my zx12 is not very comfortable for my 5'9" frame and that was one major reason i was looking into the 14.

5'9" ??!
Better get the ZX-14, then start losing loose weight - on both!
single titanium exthaus, forced rims, gel battery, sport seat, etc
You will get it under 199kg dry
Then you start pumping that bike with your legs...

mrsantafe did you know the the new 10r has footpegs almost 2 inches higher than the previous year? I"m 6.0 and when I'm on the track with full leathers its almost impossiable to put my knees out because of the footpegs being so high. The new Gsxr1000 is worse than the 10. If you are a big guy don't buy the 10 and if you like to ride distance don't buy the 10. I love to ride the track and I ride hardcore on the street but I'm wanting something more well rounded.. The 10 is a great bike road race bike that is.......

He could then get the 2005 ZX-10R - and cheaper!
I would opt for the ZX-14,
but we better read & hear first how she rides
if she's easy to bend over...you know: like in tango
