speedmototrivia Which Japanese motorcycle manufacturer consistantly made the fastest production streetbike each year since they started making Japanese srteetbikes to the present?....We're talkin' from DAY ONE through 2005 (sine the 2006 are out yet)

...dunno...I'd like to think that Honda started it all with its first streetbike in 1947, the A-type then onto the Dream machines in subsequent years...,but where has it gone from there with Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, and Suzuki?....which manufacturer was recognized as producing the fastest each year after the last?
ie.
1947 Honda A-type: top-speed (? mph)
(insert all the Japanese production bikes that had the top-speed honors here between 1948 and 1999)
2000 Suzuki Hayabusa GSX1300R: top-speed (194mph)
(Ok, hold on to your panties there Kawasaki fans...I know we all think that the ZX-12R was the fastest, but lets stick with what was published and generally accepted by the mainstream...there is a lesson in here somewhere )

...no I'm not kidding...I googled 'fastest production motorcycle' and it came up with that info....like I said: "what was generally accepted by the mainstream public"....should I have written "What was generally fed to the mainstream public."?...sure, but that's not the point of this exercise....all I'm looking for is the FASTEST each year...not the QUICKEST....not the BEST HANDLING...not the MOST COMFORTABLE....not the BEST LOOKING...just the FASTEST....you get the idea... ____________ “We sleep safe in our beds because rough men

...my bet is that Kawasaki probably had most of the fastest PRODUCTION bikes that came from the Japanese manufacturers throughout the years...anyone have info that would dispute that?...I don't know....that's why I'm asking....

I beleive Kawasaki has had reihn of fastest bikes overall.
1970's 2 stroke tripples, mach 123
Late 70's z900, then z1000
1984, 1985 ninja 900 gpz
1986,1987, 88 ninja zx10
of course the zx11 for how many years?
we all know what happened to the zx12-........neutered by the govt.

I think 1989 also it was ZX10
Then 1990, 1991, 1992 ZX11C
ZX11D took it from there, 1993 through 1998
until busa dethroned it in 1999.
Some claim that CBR1100XX was faster,
but it has been generally acknowledged as a match.

The first batch of XX was faster, and when they changed carbs to Injection, the max power of the bike (which was originally claimed at 164 hp) felt to 159 then 154

What was funny was that in 1979, Suzuki wanted to make a GT900. That'd been a two stroke triple, making an easy 150 hp at the rear wheel. Top speed was estimated at roughly 190mph. The higher ups nixed it prolly due to tire tech not exactly being there.
