In Finland one major insurance company now uses weight/dry mass
in their calculations. They have a new web-based calculator.
The max allowed power in this calculator is 150KW => 201hp
If Kawasaki ZZR-1400 puts out officially more than that
I'm out of luck
The FULL insurance for the Kawi at 217kg and 150KW is
twice that of Bandit 221kg and 73KW
I can't afford the optional full insurance (which covers your own mistakes as well)
thus my next bike is probably un-enhanced Suzuki GSX-1400

I just got from the Finnish Kawasaki import information on the phone
that the horsepower is registered without the RAM-Air
Probably under 200hp (201hp) and 150KW
So there will be no problems
ZX-10R is 175kg dry, 175hp, goes into the registration papers, right?
The max output is 184hp with RAM-Air - is this coorect?

Consider RAM-Air system is used and bike is speeding @ 299kph (186mph)
How much would something like 183 rwhp
be @ the crank then

i THINK THAT THERE IS TO MUCH VARIABLES TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT. SENSE THE TEMPERTURE, ETC. OF THE AIR WOULD COME INTO PLAY. I have played around with ram air and a dyno before. We too a leaf blower cramed the son of bitch in the scoop and seen it go up sometimes as much as 10-15 hp but that depends that temperature velocity and if it is gettting enough fuel at that velocity.. I'm not a tech due.

Kilowatts are easy to calculate into RWHP
The zx12r is rated at 135-138 kw. the formula is kilowatts, times 1.34, times .88 (drive train loss)
so 150kw, times 1.34 equal 201 crank horsepower.. subtract 12% drivetrain loss and you get 176.88 RWHP.. This number sounds about right.. These numbers don't include RAM AIR

The original figures were 192hp at crank => 169hp rear wheel
How much the RAM-Air makes difference (after the airbox modifications)
I don't know. Could be 206hp => 175hp

If you look at the dyno chart from KHI for the zx12r you'll see that the project 320bike dynoed at 176p.s. at the wheel. Which is 173std RWHP. This is actually 197 at the crank but the bike was never released detuned via ignition timing, cam timing, and compression.
IMHO if the 150kw number is correct then the bike will probably have 176-177RWHP with a STD correction factor. Remember STD reads 4.4% higher than SAE
