"Because the final product has not been established and had not gone into production at that time, we don't have specs to give out because they wouldnt be accurate, would they? Does that make any sense????"
I can back up my source (Rickey) being a small shipment came to dock on the 12th of December. The bikes were distributed to a few people in America.
My question is; Were the bikes pre-production, or final production bikes? I would assume these individual would be testing a finished product. It's just too close for this bike to still be in pre-stages, don't you think?

quote: Hey Dubious,
Thanks for your error filled, twisted little rant about your visit to the Kawasaki booth at the Edmonton show. Allow me to make a few corrections to set things straight as well as expose how much bullshit flows freely out of your mouth and fingers.
You were not talking to a 19 year old Kawi rep. Although the 2 reps there can faintly remember those good ol beer guzzling days of being 19, they've past that mark some time ago. You may have spoken to someone from a local dealership as everyone was wearing pit shirts. Perhaps that "threw" you off...
I for one talked to a few people about the 14. I only had 1 guy who weighed about 90 lbs soakin wet, ask to sit on it, to which I replied no and explained that the bike was pre-production, that the fit and finish isnt really there and that we didnt want consumers to make a decision on the feel of the bike in case there are changes. I further explained that the bike, at the time of our conversation isnt even yet in production. Those bikes you have been reading about in the states are for testing purposes only and may not be the final product. This person, nor anyone else for that matter laugh out loud and told me to shut the fuck up, nor did I hear that told to anyone else in the booth.
Because the final product has not been established and had not gone into production at that time, we don't have specs to give out because they wouldnt be accurate, would they? Does that make any sense???? What we have been told so far...and this was relayed to the sales people working in the booth, is that preliminary reports from Japan indicate that hp will be in the 192 range, 200 with ram and approx 175 to 180 at the wheel. Initial testing showed the bike running the 1/4 mile in the low 9's at about 240, if I remember correctly. There is no seat height or dry weight available because the bike HASN'T gone into final production at that time, nor will that information be released until the press launch in late February. I'm sorry that you'll have to wait until then to get a poster to hang up in your bedroom.
As far as your comments regarding the shape of the bike, please try and wrestle with the concept that there is only 1 pre-production bike in Canada..the one you saw at the show. That bike had already made appearances at the Toronto and Calgary shows. They do tend to get jostled abit while making the rounds at shows..not mention the morons who sneak onto the display with un-zippered jackets and lay on the bikes. As far as the baked on dirt, the bike came here in winter so I dont know what the hell youre talking about..and right about now, it doesnt really matter..
As far as the reps being rude, ignorant and full of shit........They make thier living selling bikes and promoting the product thier employer manufactures. Being rude and ignorant doesnt really pay the bills if you're that way with customers...does it?
Now....if you want rude or ignorant, let me know what dealer you have your deposit with. Most dealers in the Edmonton area have already sold most of the 14's they have ordered. Wouldnt it be a bitch if your dealer was shy 1 bike?
Although I appreciate your interest in Kawasaki product, please keep your little guy/big bark rants to yourself..at least until you get your facts straight.
To everyone else wanting to purchase the 14....they should be on dealers floors in Canada in March sometime(I'm not giving a date because I'm not the dude in Japan who knows when there will be enough made to fill a boat and send it off to North America). Enjoy your ride!
Like I said.
The conversation did not take place at the booth, it was at the zx14 display, and he was standing inside the display cleaning the bike.
If i remember there were 2 mature men in the booth with a dark haired lady, 2 younger men and it was the elder of the 2 younger who had not a clue what he was saying.
They wouldn't let us sit on it, the guy had attitude, and the younger rep was spouting off bullshit about being 5 bike lenghts faster than the busa , 190 crank HP, 9.7 seconds and 200 KMH in the 1/4.
None of these figures work.
The busa has already done 9.7 at 240 kmph(145 mph) its physically impossible to do 9.7 at 200, unless he was on his way to a 9.3 pass, and hit the brakes before the traps.
The reps were rude and looked at me in a stupor when I asked for at least a poster.
Pointed to the cruiser display and told me there were posters there.
I have a deposit, I pay your wages as does every other customer, and It does pay to be nice and Know the product and its competition.
I do not know if you are the same dark haired 19- 25 yr old , 5'9" 200 lb piece of shit who I talked to, but I have more reason to paint another rep the same color now - THREATENING ME ABOUT MY BIKE.
Kiss my ass MF.
I have 2 other Kawi's in my garage, a brute force 750, zx12, and a custom CR500 aluminum frame conversion( didn't think you would know "CR500AF") which I built myself.
I paid for them with my 6 figure, year income, and store them in the double garage attatched to my 3000 square foot home.
I can guarantee you I do not weigh 90 lbs.
This 35 yr old could teach you a thing or two!
And boy would I like to..............................
The comment about little guy, big bark makes me laugh cause I would "meet you anywhere... anytime" .
I am the kinda guy who loves to adjust attitudes.
Nothing bothers me more than people who THINK they are all that.
If your manager is smarter than you are -then I will get my bike and he'll ditch you.
Another example of the poor representation Kawasaki is paying for.
If you worked for me, I'd have you fired.
You guys made a very poor effort to present the machines, and none to mingle with the customers.
I have pretty good Idea how the politics work though.
Most of you guys are not hired for knowledge, mechanical experience, salesmanship, or personality.
It has more to do with who you do, not what you do, and who you know, not what you know.
Thanks for the numbers though.
At least we got that. and finally reasonable ones too.
BTW the seat height is 805 mm.
The Kawi website in finland gives this number.
You still need to do more research, and be more prepared for these shows, cause you know people will want answers, and will be pissed if they are not given them, or they are unreal.
The bit about being unable to sit on the bike is B.S.
Having a very sizable down payment on a bike I have never seen, then being unable to sit on it really is poor marketing, whether it was your decision or someone else's.
I would have been willing to come back to have a more personal look , out of the normal show hours if it would have been offered to me, this way it would not create a situation for every tire kicker you guys deal with.
I took 2 days off work ( cost me $1000 ) to go to the show only to be turned away and off completely by you people.
As far as scratched tanks.... I understand, thats why I put my jacket in the coat booth.
See i am not a disrespectfull, ignorant, or unreasonable ass you might think I am.
I am glad I got a response from you.
Maybe you will be intelligent and open minded enough to see from the other perspective.

I still am dumbfounded by your initial pompous, higher than thou attitude at the show, and am still in disbelief of the pompus attitude you continue to carry.
My initial response was not intended to bragg, but disprove your insinuation that I am a 12 yr old 90 lb pimple faced kid with no money to spend.
BTW those are the customers of the future and your attitude towards them may very well reflect sales for the corporation down the road.
You guys need to get off your high horses.
I highly disbelieve that the production tooling is not in place already for a bike that will hit our shores in 60 days or so.
Seeing as there are so few of these bikes around, and the one you had on display had a speedometer that read MPH, I would make an educated "guess " that bike came from stateside shows, earlier this winter.
I hope this is not a waste of my time and somebody, you included ALTA Kawi are listening and learning something from all this.
See ya 'round.

Gaby12......
I agree.
I do not wish to fight, name calling and personal attacks should be avoided then.
Gaby, You should mind your own business.
When are you getting your bike ?
I could really put the "screws" to you but I'll leave it at that OK?
Loyal (and any) customers deserve better treatment than that.
