More Rumors....

Got this info from other boards. Might just be more rumors.

(1) the bikes at the shows don't have engines, just the cases (which is why they feel so light?). Also, that block and cases are one.

(2) Crank HP (I'm assuming with stock can), 183hp

#1 we all know is not true since in most every picture that's been posted or links to pictures other have taken of the bike in person, there have been shots of the engine area and cleary there's and engine in there. Why would Kawasaki put bikes on tour with no engines? A concept bike I could see but a production model I think not. Now I could be convinced that the engines in the tour/show bike are perhaps made of plastic of similar light weight material only made to look real...again though I don't see the point. Regarding #2, I for one (from day one) have always said (guessed) the hp figure to be about 185hp. Simply put if the ZX-12R makes 160hp w/1200cc, and the Hayabusa makes 170hp w/1300cc, then the additional 50 something cc of this bike over the Busa has to mean an additonal 5-10hp more or something like 175-180hp. Add in the higher compression ratio of the ZX-14 over the Busa and surely you'd get a few more ponies from that as well (185-190hp). Lastly, there have also been rumors that Kawasaki is making last minute changes to the cylinder heads of this bikes (true or not, who knows). Still the ZX-14 has to be in the 185hp range otherwise it'll all have been for nothing. Also wated to mention a rumor I read stating the weight as 200Kg / 440lbs (dry) - 230Kg / 506lbs (wet). Lets hope it's all TRUE!

Well, according to a couple of morons over at another Kawasaki board, 60cc achieved by bore increase is worth only 2 hp. And the ZX-14 has its displacement advantage over the Busa by greater bore. So by that reasoning, the 14 should have only about 2 hp more than the Busa, or even less improvement.

Oh wait a second, they were morons.

The Hayabusa DOES not make more horsepower than the 12r stock.. Never has never will. I have never been out dynoed by any hayabusa. The lastest sport rider as the busa at 162..7 (because of the new ecu, and the 12R at 162.6..) But of course the 12r holds on to its power better to the limiter.
The new 1352 by virtue of it bore and stoke might make 10-12 more horsepower than the 12r IMHO

Hey Supra5677, I wasn't tring to piss you off on bit. Honestly I don't know what either of those bikes make hp wise, really don't care for either of them and haven't ever read their specs. I thought the Busa made about 170hp (168,169, whatever it's all the same hp to me generally and I won't argue over 1 or 2 hp here or there). I did read those figures in (general terms) about those 2 machines. I was simply trying to make the point that the ZX-14 has to do better and while nobody knows how much better I'd suggest 185hp because of the larger cc engine and possible revised head design compiled with with greater compression ratio. If the Busa puts down one sixty something horsepower, then the ZX-14 has do put down minimum of 180hp, or it'll all have been for nothing.

It has been stated bt kawa that the 14 will be the most powerful bike they have ever made, so we know crank power will be at least 185 since the 05 10r makes 185 @ the crank...I am guessing somewhere in the 190 range or you never know? maybe more? if they can pull 185 out of a 10r, they should be able to pull out 200 out of the 14...the problem is the 10r is pumping as much as it can while the 12r ans 14r can bring out alot more with mods...

The official rumor from the other board was, weight less than 200kg dry and the first dyno pull from supposedly Kawi Official was 183 at the rear wheel, and that was without ram air....

Points considered indeed; So long as this bike makes 180-185hp min I think it'll be a winner across the board. psycho1122 has posted that "190 hp / 110 tq" figure here a few times and it hasn't gone unnoticed, maybe he's on to something? If the bike comes in around 525lb wet, that would be good enough for me considering how large it looks in the pictures and it's slightly larger engine. That 506lbs wet weight I don't believe or should say I think is impossible, but all the 600, 750 and 1000cc bikes have shed weight over the past 6 yrs (albeit Honda), so maybe it's time the big boys did also and I agree with;

"if they can pull 185 out of a 10r, they should be able to pull out 200 out of the 14"

The german magazine "Motorrad", which I consider as being one of the best (if not the best) worldwide, mentioned 192 bhp (w/o RAM air) a few times allready. No weight data have been given so far. Even at the motorshow in Milano, Italy officials were extremely tight lipped about any specs. for the bike.
