Some quotes from Cycle World:
"Kawasaki has so far made no claims, but 165-170 rear-wheel hp seems likely given the current ZX-12R's 160-hp output."
"The $11,499 ZX-14 promises to be one of the quickest production motorcycles ever made.
Will it be the fastest? The short answer is no-kawasaki says it will adhere to the gentleman's agreement to limit top speed to 186 mph.
We're sure it will get there in a hurry"

Like I said "Small Write Up"... They just don't want to divulge the info as of yet for some reason, I think it is because they are not finished with the final numbers yet.

Kawasaki made a good investment with Cycle World in the payola that was I think no doubt given to them for the ZX-10R intro. It must have paid off bigtime.
Kawasaki has also recently seen (and no doubt more than just this one example) what happens with NO payola, as with the recent comparo that included the Busa and 12R where Cycle World savaged the 12 -- over issues the Busa is worse at -- and praised the Busa to the skies.
So maybe they'll consider the payola worth it for the ZX-14 launch.
For sure their probable failure to do so for the ZX-12R for any American magazine hurt sales -- and look at the difference between American and British reviews of the 12.

The American bike mags. are for kids. No substance and misguided.

tell chris who you are Y2K
... and I happen to agree with Y2K. The euro mags tend to be far more fair and balanced in their assesment of bikes, plus they have chick fotos...
but hey... I havent bought a bike mag in over a year...
who needs a mag when I hang out here and get to see the same stuff for free and 3 months earlier!

I read em. Like a fiend from front to back and then back to front. I read the ads. I read the letters from idiots just like me. I read the editorials. I read the race reports about people I never even heard of. Then I read it all again. Cycle world. Sport Rider. Whatever you got.
What mag did that Cycle world guy just jump to, Motorcyclist or Motorcycle Rider or something. I read that too. You got a better more entertaining source of a wide variety of motorcycle info? I would like to know about that too.

Right on... I think they're paid off by whoever gives them the most $$$ under the table.
Euro mags are much better reviews, better setup hints, better advertising... too bad I
can't buy some of their products over there...
And when they TEST a bike... they TEST IT!!!! Even if it means bringing it home in a basket...

zxfingyz, sounds like you'd find a trip to the Barnes and Noble (or possibly Books a Million) quite worthwhile then, as there are many more British mags than American and as noted, they're much better.
The only American mag I find genuinely good is Roadracing World. I do read Motorcyclist, Sport Rider, and Cycle World but they suck (CW worse than Motorcyclist, with Sport Rider being variable.)
I'm just a guy trying to make sence of it all... I love limes and have bad teeth(well not really)... and I play a motorcycle racer on sunday mornings. Never been thru the tunnel... and dont like the french. Never even been across the pond. But I do like cold beer, the NFL cheergirls, and old chevrolets.(I have one) And I dont like Motorcyclist, Sport Rider, and Cycle World very much.
There... hows that Fish? ____________

Nobody is hiding. Internet will teach you soon enough why posting your real name is often not a good idea.
I can't wait until I know enough to find the US mags uninformative!
