Where did that specific number come from?
Is it that the non-street-legal, wheelie-bar-equipped $30K V-Rod did 9.65? (In the 130 mph range if I remember right)
I don't know why that mag called that the quickest stock motorcycle ever. I'd thought in one of the Busa vs 12R drag shootouts where they allowed using a strap, both bikes went faster than that.
If the Hardley is allowed to use a wheelie-bar, hard to figure why the Busa and 12 shouldn't be allowed the strap... or is the "thinking" that the strap didn't come from the factory? But that is an aside, and only relevant if the question was meant in relation to the Hardley being crowned by Psycho World as the world's quickest production motorcycle.
Or did your 9.64 figure have another origin?

Personally I think a wheelie bar looks REALLY STUPID when unable to break out of the nines, but maybe that's just me.

Harley Davidson...fastest production bike in the world? I can already see all the damn black t-shirts at the local dealership with that statement and a H-D emblem going for about $40-$50 a pop. AND they will sell like hotcakes!!!

It really doesnt matter how fast the ZX14 goes in stock street riding height...
The Drag Racers will slam it, gear it, pipe it, Dyno tune it, then we will see how fast it really goes...No body DragRaces steady with a street suspension set up...
Harley Davidson does not need to play by any kind of rules...HD is allowed to make up new rules just for them...HD is in a class all by its self...No other bike is allowed to be compared to it, especially Japanese bikes!!!

61mm stroke x 84 mm bore
Everyone knows that Kawi have the best head from the factory, with larger cams and valves
I think this bike will run some 9:40's easy with a decent rider, (1:55 to 1:60) 60 foot. His weight can be 180-200 lbs

If it does'nt go 8.99 or lower, right out of the box, I won't be impressed at all.
Remember that dood going 9.27 on a bone stock lowered 10?
Also, 200hp at the wheel is a must. Happy dynos give tuned 12R's 180's all day long.
If these numbers aren't met, I think Kaw wasted thier time and resources on it.
I'll dive into my A model, some engine/ suspension stuff, and have a better machine for 5-6k less.

It seems highly unlikely it will do 200 Dynojet-rwhp stock. The only way that would be at all reasonable would be if Kawasaki said they were aiming for 220 or more crank hp, which by no means have they said.
But if you meant 200 tuned on a happy dyno, then agreed, it will either need to do this or be very close, e.g. at least 195, to represent reasonably impressive progress.

when considering how the bike might come from the factory, you guys have a heck of a lot more expectation or hope than I do.
With a stock pipe, off the floor but broken in, heck even with synth oil, I wasn't expecting any more than 170 rwhp. And I think I'm being kind of generous.
My unscientific basis is only that I think the bike will be aimed at more mid-range torque than for true peak hp. Isn't that the target market?
Now, let a racer get his hands on it and yeah, with those cc's, we should see some great HP.
