What to do on a boring Sunday

What we did- Sunny 75 degrees outside so we took 4 generations of R1 Yamaha's out for a ride. The smell of ocean breeze at speed was nice-

First '09 I've seen in person on the left, my '08, '06 behind it, '03 to the right.

I'll give you $5 and a free hat if you push that bike over.

can't push it over, he's putting it on the track next weekend as control rider at JenningsGP. One of the rare ones that will actually ever see a track.

If it was a squid's it'd be worth pushing over for $5 and hat if you threw in a coupon for a bottle of McGuire's quik detail too.

Starbucks? Didn't hit that today?

But earlier tonight Marge and I did hit Vallarta's.

Vallarta's Mexican Restaurant serves up authentic Mexican with several locations in the Tampa Bay area. All you can eat chips and salsa are just the start. They have tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and flexible combo specials.

The new R1 is ugly to say the least. Luckily performance and appearance don't go hand in hand

I agree the R1 went from one of the most appealing bikes on the market (arguably the most appealing of all the rice rockets)… To something resembling a bug.

Don’t get me wrong I am a huge fan of the performance upgrades etc.. the designers did a great job just a shame they were blind.

It looks a lot better in person but I agree its ugly, what are the japs doing?

Honda 1000RR got ugly, and the ZX10 is so ugly a friend that works at a dealership that sells all brands told me there has been no interest in it at all compared to the others?

I really don't care what they look like, I'm in it for the fun factor, but I still can't undertstand why they are designing as such.

....and I don't like some of the BIG-ASS exhaust systems....oh, I understand the need for OEMs t meet federal noise regs and cat requirements, but if they would just put more effort into the designs to make them aesthetically pleasing and mechanically efficient....

Well... no matter how cool they make the factory exhaust... they know you are going to swap it out for an aftermarket system. So they make them as cheap as possible to meet regulations.

It won't be much longer before a NON oem exhaust will get a big ticket and possible confiscation of the offending vehicle imho.

yeah they need to step there game up in the looks department. Definitely agree with that one. Jap bikes use to be real sexy. I guess in some aspects they must cut corners to save money. But that is big problem with the production of motorcycles. Someone needs to talk to these designers damnit!

man! steve is always having a good time. I need to make it down there this summer buddy.... Even he didn't have a good sunday, he still enjoys the ride to the fullest. Im sure he knows of a couple of good places to take a ride (many corners!). Maybe we could meet up and ride the dragon sometime that is apart of my TO DO list. Also what does your buddy say about his 09, does he like it? did he give a riding impression?
