Washington Riders: Last Ride Of The Year!
With the projected nice weather for this upcoming saturday, I was thinking we should get a Bikeland ride in. All bikes are welcome, but there will be sections were we step it up a notch so be forewarned! The ride is still open to negotiation, but we can count out the higher elevations (mountains) because there is no way it will be dry by this weekend. Takes forever after a dousing like we are going thru for the roads to dry up there.
It can be a quick ride (for me) up to the Lake McMurray area of Hwy 9 (Southeast of Mt Vernon, Lake Cavanaugh and Finn Settlement roads, and Gunderson/Beaver Lake rd just south of Clear Lake). Also can be a longer ride around the Peninsula, but thats a hard call with the weather the way its been. 10+ hour trip there!
I'll be filming from my bike and at the stops, if anybody else has a bike mounted camera setup bring it along too.
FYI: This is planned as a 80% of all out pace in certain particularIy twisty areas, more or less legal the rest of the ride. Now, my 80% speed is usually still fast enough to qualify for most guys 100% so be forewarned! I only go all out with friends I know well and who I have no doubt are capable of "riding there own ride" and keeping up with me without crashing. Almost every ride I've been on the last few years where the group of fast riders decided to really step it up to full race speeds, someone wrecks around me. It's NOT a race!
I digress; I'm hoping on a saturday morning meet at 9 or 10am. Got some time, so give me some input!

That would be cool steve! So you coming on up? With all that traveling for work, I would assume a trip up here would not be that big a deal! Only about 8 hours of flying. lol

I will, but was hoping to get some of the turtles out of there shell on Bikeland, first. Looks like it aint gonna work... Fingers crossed on a sunny saturday!
Oh yeah, what's your choice for a ride?? I'm not set on anything, got the whole day to screw around.

Oh yeah, what's your choice for a ride?? I'm not set on anything, got the whole day to screw around.
I don't really know any rides up north, so I'm fine with learning some new areas (in fact I would rather it be a new ride for me). I also have the day completely free.

ANY bikelander who wants to make this ride can crash on my couch friday night if its a long drive for them. No problems, gonna have a few friends over anyways. The more the merrier!

I am inviting 3 others that I ride with a lot. They can keep up just fine and are probably better riders then me! This should be a blast if the weather holds

Sounds great.
Should be sunny and dry friday thru monday so alls looking good! And for the record, starting at 10:30am isn't THAT early! Unless you live in BFE... oh wait, you do.  I can make it 11:00 or even 11:30 if you want, cuz the ride just got shorter with the flooding taking out the longer loop I had planned. Asking a friend who lives up there to test ride the roads in question (South Skagit Hwy and Hwy 530). If it's gonna be a shorter run, we can leave later and also throw in Highbridge rd and Ben Howard, our local favorites.
