Somehow I believe if that was me riding, it would have looked slightly different. I didn't see any scuff marks on his elbow.

During that SAME Race (At least I think it was Jerez) Nicky Hayden did "EXACTLY" the same thing with his elbow to save his bike! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSg1lHo1Isg&NR=1#
The Only difference was Nicky kept going real fast and finished 4th!
