many questions...
hey! new guy.. fresh meat..
i own a bike shop making race, custom, and stunt bikes, and am a machinist and electrical engineer.
ok.. now, i've been perusing this one looking for reputable info, as well as a few others to see if it was worthwhile to join. well, i guess my posting is the answer! this one wins. hands down. i've seen some brilliant people on this one!
my question is about the age-old topic of the kleen air mod. i'm sure you're tired of seeing this one, but i have a question to ask.. (i've already seen it posted on another forum, but did not end with a solid answer.
i machined a set of block off plates for my '00 ZX7-R. i would like to know if
* is it acceptable to remove the reed valves. if not, why?
*can i pipe the case vent into the K/A system to help evacuate the pressure? i am assuming i'll need a separator and possibly a PCV-checkvalve setup of sorts (t whick i'll apply another set of reeds in a self-made housing
* i plan on throwing a TDO4-L on this very shortly.. whats the effects of boost in correlation to K/A modification? (no more that 15-20psi, btw)
now, i know we're dealing with an older 7-R on this one, but ive read so far some VERY mixed review.
the whole backfire thing, i think stems from a lean backfire in the port, post valve, but have also read that carburated bikes seem to really like this block off mod. i am theorizing on what the exhaust pulse will do without the reed valves in place...
and help will be highly appreciated!! (and anticipated) thank you, guys!!

Welcome!!! and I would say yes on the reed valves since you have block off's... not sure about the mechanics of the rest... wish I could help..

thanks for the welcome!
i got some experimenting to do i guess..
i removed the reeds, and had atrocious stuttering.. coulda been anything tho.. i didn't feel like screwin with different things all day long.. just put the whole thing back in til i feel experimental.
the exhaust pulse crossover shouldn't theoretically affect performace.. well, its possble its causing positive pressure to push the burnt gasses back into the combustion chamber..
like i said.. got some playing to do..
any other suggestion would be sweet.. thanks again mike!
