Well, I now own one too.

Not the SM version, the DRZ400E. It's an '01 model that a local guy bought new in '04. It's been well maintained, and runs and rides really nice. It's not the demon my 450 Yamaha was, but I didn't want that. I wanted a bike I could trail ride with my son. It's a bit much, maybe overkill, but time will tell. If it doesn't suit me, I'll sell it and get something else.

It was an uneducated purchase other than me looking at NADA value before I went to ride it.

I definitely got it worth the money, and all it needs is a headlight bulb. Couldn't find one at autozone, so I'll check with the 'zuki dealership tomorrow. It took my meter and checked the plug for voltage, and it was right at 14vdc, so I knew it was the bulb.

It cranks up 1000 times better than my yamaha did, I was impressed with that. New rear tire too. I'll try and get a pic of it up here in a day or two.

how muchy you pay? Bike's awesome! You won't regret it Changing gearing makes it a hoot on the street... cant remember... down one up 4? anyways... whatever I did mine tops out at about 66mph but it's a blast in the tight stuff.

goin with -1 in the front....and up 2 in the rear.

rejetted it...3x3 mod...runs much better now....but id still like to be able to effortlessly loft the front tire out of corners.

itll come up a bit...but i have to work for it =)

fish I stole the thing really, ultra clean and runs great. Though the more I ride the bike the more I can tell it needs the carb jetted. It's too lean....

I may regear it a bit for the woods, but the plan for now is to keep it "dirt only". YCIS and others have me seriously considering a SM model, but to do that I'd probably have to let the SV go. The ZX-10R is going nowhere, I got that little whore dialed in, suspension pimped, and it is just a blast to ride. Just did my first 2 track days on it a little over a week ago.

I really like the DRZ though, gonna hit the woods with my son this afternoon, and I can't wait. We're gonna have a blast.

Hello everyone. I'm new here... I have an 06 DR-Z400SM and speaking of batteries, yes, the stock battery is junk. And EXPENSIVE! Had to replace mine at 1,100 miles. The computer is somewhat difficult to operate.(Thats why I keep the manual with me.LOL) If you have to replace your battery, go to http://www.motorcyclebatteriesusa.com/battery-finder-list.asp?battery=160 . $56.75 and it is much better than the OEM unit. Also, if you want much better throttle response, install a carb from the dirt only DR-Z. WOW!!!!

I plan on keeping the little DR-Z for a long time. It is just a pleasure to ride. A new header and silencer is in the works. Side panel decals. Tires. Rims. ..A personal touch. THEN a 2009 KLX 250 dual sport. In green, of course.

You'd better ask around about KTMs first! Ask Sagot... he'd PAY me to take his KTM from him... he can't give the thing away... now he'd trying to get a DRZ...

Mine's not for sale!!
