Don't know how it is in your neck of the woods.....but around here, most drivers think that signaling is an "option".....and lane jumping is a sport......so, lane splitting..no thanks.

Looks like a normal commute around here...

Although his "Delta" closing speed was way to high at times; if someone tired to jump a lane when they are going 5mph & he's going 70+, he'd have no chance of avoidance. In this area, "lane-sharing" is allowed- but at the speeds he was going the CHP would consider some of that reckless driving...

I do it all the time; but he was taking some BIG chances at times I wouldn't take...

Kept waiting for the wreck...

Driver education is the big part of ever making lane splitting work.

Which is why it will never pass in Washington state.

Basically agree with Dave. Other than the insane speed at times, pretty normal stuff. Come on swft, you got some exposure to it down here...

...not normal when he makes that right-turn following that black MBZ AND passes it on its right against the curb...imho, this video with its lame background music does nothing but prove what an idiot the rider is splitting lanes at those types of speeds, not to mention the straight speeds IN MODERATE TO HEAVY TRAFFIC...its stupid riding, plain and simple...splitting lanes can and should be done safely...its apparent that the rider puts way too much trust in other motorists using the roadways...way, way too much...and before any of you boooo me off of this sopabox, this is not the cop talking...its the good common sense street rider talking (and I'm assuming its the majority of you), but one who suffers the stigma of 'those idiot Ninja riders' because of what appears to be irresponsible riding such as you've just seen....now where's my donut?????

Yup. Too fast for me to battle with cages. Bikes, okay. Cages? No.

And I was trying to read if it was KMH, I figured it was. Sounds good to me. Going 100 MPH where he was...didn't look like it.

You guys realize that probably every cager he passed was swearin' up a storm at him cause ya know he scared the crap out of them. They have no way of knowing he's coming up behind them. Yeah I was waitng for just one cager to switch lanes if front of him. Amazing that it didn't happen!

Reminds me of a recent 'drive' I took to Kelowna with my wife. We left a movie theater and two Bastards, yep one rider calling another a bastard because of their complete and utter disregard of anyone else on the road, ride up behind us. These nuts decide to pull wheelies off the light while behind other vehicals (read me and my wife and a couple of other cages) with nowhere to go except between us and another guy. They dropped the wheeies just before actually getting between us. Scared the crap out of my wife me too really. And of course they hit warp speed heading down Harvey Rd (hwy 97). One guy with a red helmet, black gear and a black gixxer, can't remember the other guy - shock maybe!?.

Anyway these guys were a total embarassment to me for the sake of riders in general. Bad rep...no wonder with twerps on the road like these two. Lane splitting maybe okay if used properly but this is an example of what can (will/does) go wrong. If it was possible to find them I would have rip their bikes apart or ran over them. They don't deserve to be on the road. So all this anger from one rider towards another....so what do you think Joe cager feels.

Sorry about this rant but I was so pissed off and angry - just unbelievable.

couldnt agree more Dandy... keep that shit for when there is noone around (or almost noone). lack of respect for other users of and near the road, including my pet peeve of the loud exaust issue, jsut gets me riled up instantly. unfortuantely that attitude seem to enjoy a monopoly among bikers in general. so many of us seem to think we have more right to the road than anyone else.and it seems noone has heard of the "high road" either. i'm not perfect myself of course, but at least i try to be considerate of others.

but i am defintiely a huge fan of responsible lane splitting. how many times on the trip to laguna was i stuck in stoppped or crawling traffic in the boiling heat with both my biek and myself wantin to die had we sat in traffic. fortuantely lane sharing is legal in cali (tho imho the conditions for it being allowed should be more accomodating), so we actually got somewhere, if slowly, instead of having the bikes overheat. passing still traffic at 15mph may not be flying, but it's WAY better than 0.
