May 22-24: Upper Pitt Lake watershed
A 'local' (Vancouver area) long-weekend ride for those not going to California for the Sheet Iron:
This is an event put on by the lowermainlandatvclub.ca. I have spoken with the organizer, and DualSport riders have been invited to participate.
They have commissioned a barge / tug to load atv's (and bikes) in Pitt Meadows on Saturday morning. It should be a three hour boat ride to the top of the lake.
Monday (don't know what time), the barge will bring us back to Pitt Meadows.
LOOK AT A MAP OF THIS AREA!!!!!!!!!! There is no other way to get our D/S bikes into this area. Boat access only. This fabulous watershed is riddled with miles and miles of logging roads in various condition. Great hotsprings & fishing too!
I've boated to the top of the lake and mountain biked 20km up the mainline to the hotsprings and fished the upper river for cutthroat. This area will not dissappoint!
Although cabins are available ($$$), the intention is to camp for the two nights. Plan to take fuel cans onto the barge.
My details are sketchy. The club had originally received interest from more than 20 atv riders. As of today, only 8 have committed & paid the barge fee.
If even just a few of us commit, they will proceed and then iron out all the details. Otherwise, they may cancel / postpone the event.
The barge cost is $100 per person.
If any of you are interested, please let me know ASAP.

I didn't go. Road ride instead.
Their club didn't have a great response & left it 'up in the air' until a few days beforehand, and those quad riders that had signed up decided to proceed at a higher price per person. No bike riders ever contacted me with interest.
That seems to be the way things go when planning a group event that needs a commitment with $$. I note the current dismal pre-reg. for the Routledge and Dead Zone events this year.
