looking to build a motard

i would like to build a urban assault bike, inexpensive, 400cc (cheap insurance) liquid cooled, and do no want to spend a whole pile

i have never riden' a motard, so i am not sure what to expect, but i think it must be more fun that running a 1 litre in the city

any ideas on what to look for?

...a DRZ400S or a KLX400SR...check out thumpertalk.com for some motard ideas with these bikes...

Ha ha ha..... you want to build a cheap Supermoto ha ha ha,..

Sorry but unless you only just buy 17"rings and spokes to your stock hubs do not do any thing else at all but lic & ins. and you may have a cheap supermoto

I'd do a Honda XR-400R... they can be had everywhere,
4 stroke, great wheelie machine, easy to make street legal.
And they aren't too expensive... just add street tires.
If you want the cool look, change the front 21" to a 17"
