Seriously, I have *no* idea. Mine involves a tradein if I want to get one, so I don't expect a good deal.

Just got a call from Ultimate Cycles last night, we discussed the initial price vise the $300 mark up from KHI. I am locked in at the initial price since my deposit was posted back in August. I am getting mine at an out the door for the initial price from KHI $10,699. No setup, transportation, tax or tages.

The MOST I would pay OTD (incl tax, title, license) is the MSRP. If the shop will not sell it to you at that price, go to another one that will.

ZX-10R
+ 4 yr KMC warranty extention (total 5 yrs)
+ service manual
+ euro signals (front & rear)
+ delivery/shipping (no set-up because I uncrate my own bikes)
+ $3000 payoff of current 12R
- Trade in value of 12R
+ sales tax on loan amount (approx. $500)
+ tag transfer (approx. $50)
= about $175 a month for 5 years at 6%
In other words, basically a few hundred under/over MSRP.
I wouldn't care if I paid a grand over MSRP, I still wouldn't shop my dealer. My name has been on the first green one since the 10R was first rumored over a year ago (no money down as a deposit - just like my 12R). I'd more than make that up in my discounts at the parts counter in less than 6 months.

MSRP = OTD max. If you pay more than that, you really, really want it badly.... Or you love your dealer and he loves you, so he makes it up somewhere else to you (accessories, service, etc.).

Ya, well it's like i got a deposit on a new R1 for 9600 OTD, for everything including shipping. Im starting to have second thought's so Im seeing if I can match that deal somewhere.

Wow, $9600 out the door is a fantastic price. My friendly local Yamaha dealer won't sell their remaining '03 R1 for that price. So are you going to change your user name to CDRacingR1?
I am curious, are you also CDRacingZX6R? Or is that someone else?

The thing for me is that even if I want to switch to the 10R, I dont know if I can afford the prices. I don't know why but it seems it's much easyer to find Yamaha dealers working to get OTD prices of 9,500 or a little more. Thats really all the money I can splurge. I wasn't really that interested in the 10R until after I went to a bike show last weekend and got to sit on it. It felt exactly like my 636 to me. I mean If my eyes were closed I wouldn't be able to tell the different, and i'm thinking "Fuck I love my 636, now picture it with a slipper clutch and 50 more rear wheel horsepower". I personally like the styling better on the R1, but the feel on that 10R was awesome. And for me feel is always before styling. Not saying the 10R is ugly or anything, it's bueatiful in it's own right. But I just think the R1 is just dead sexy.
One thing about that 10R is the brakes. From having a 636, I know how bad ass those brakes are. I totally out brake people on other bikes with those things. They fucking rule. Those of you that have, or have ridden a 636 know what i mean.
I don't know, Im just saying. I'm going to wait for comparo's before i make my final decision. Theres a few british mag's I trust to give an honest opinion, and if they say the R1 handles like a god, than I might as well stay with it. But if they say the 10R handles in such a way that it could do circles around the R1, I'm gonna have to go with it. I could careless which bike has 2/3 hp more, or a higher top speed. I'm never gonna be a good enough rider to use all that power. I just care about handling. (And honda can eat a dick, I've owned three and they were all piss poor quality compared to my 636, IMO). We shall see though.
