Hey swft,
I am sure that you agree that dry weights from the manufacturers are pretty amazing numbers. I think some of them are without oil, coolant, battery, fork springs, reflectors and whatever else they can shed. Last years Gixxer had a claimed dry weight of 370 lbs but the ACTUAL weight ready to ride except gas was 405 (+35 lbs). The R1 claimed dry weight was 382 and the ACTUAL weight was 414 (+32 lbs). And the CBR954RR had a claimed weight of 370 lbs. but the 954 actually weighed 40 lbs. more ready to ride, less gas. Check out the 600's where Honda claims the CBR600RR is within a couple of pounds of the class leaders. But in reality, it weighs 29 pounds more than the R6 or ZX6R. My guesstimate on the CBR1000RR is based on info from Euro Fireblade site that says the 1000 weighs 10 kg. (22 pounds) more than the 954 Honda. That weight gain is in line with the weight gain from the F4i to the 600RR with the Unit Pro-Link suspension.

Oh, I quite agree. Those weights from the website were intended to demonstrate just how far from reality the manu specs are. I'm just waiting for a four-way comparo in a reputable (non-US) magazine.

Newton's Universal Law of Gravitation states that any two objects exert a gravitational force of attraction on each other. The direction of the force is along the line joing the objects. The magnitude of the force is proportional to the product of the gravitational masses of the objects, and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. Taking advantage of this law, some of the manus weight their bikes on mountain tops, in airplanes, or in hot air baloons, because the further they are from the center of earth's mass, the less the bike weights, or as Jackie Gleason used to say, "To the moon Alice." Hope this explains any discrepancies ____________

LOL, how about the einstein cross? You can use an objects gravatational field to bend the light around the object so you can see directly behind the object in quadrascopic. This was just proven to be true earlier this year in a real world situation. So if the honda is a porker then it will make it easyier to see around. lol
