saw the 10r at the bike show

just saw the 10 at the Seattle bike show... not quite what i expected. which is to say more comfy than i had thought it would be. the bars are definitely low, but the seat is really nice! mostly a function of the narrow tank & frame i guess. fairing doesnt look liek it'll do much tho. they'v got official numbers published at the show saying 183hp. what exactly that means tho i don't know. i was told one kawi rep there said 175 rear wheel with no ram air. i'd say he was smokin crack. not sure if the 183 is with or without ram air tho. i'm sure it's crank. still, even if it is with ram at the crank, that's pretty impressive for a litre bike, and should put it at a bit short of 160hp rear wheel. not too bad! plastic sounded a little cheezy/flimsy, but no crappy fasteners holdin it on unlike the 12.

extreamlean, since the HP numbers are officially published, can u confirm exactly what the number represents?

ok, so i just realized part of that is old news. 184PS at the crank with ram was already published. but if this is actually 183HP then the US model has found a couple extra hp?

The rep told me "175 at the rear wheel, with NO ram air". I'm getting the bike if it puts out 150 at the rear wheel, but if those #s are TRUE, I'll shit in my hand, throw it in the air, and catch it in my teeth! (damn, that's not a very pretty picture is it? ) ........Keep in mind I'm talking about a Production model,.....stock. Btw,....I hope to hell that guy was exaggerating:O

they were all rpetty nice IMHO. i thought the orange was the most funky. green will always look good (it's an ugly colour, but it works for the style of bike). black is of course mean lookin but im not crazy about the silver/green flakes in the paint. plus of course black obscures much of the bike, which depending on ur style is a good or bad thing. don't know what i would get personally. if i had the $$, prolly get a custom paintjob. nothing fancy, just a different solid colour.
