Is Kawi selling Dreams!!?!?
I am a avid rider and such a fan of kawasaki, well the old kawasaki! I currently ride my 05' zx-10r an a 06' 636. Pure examples of the earlier dominance and "bad ass" style an performance they are known for. I am starting to wonder with all these new reinventions of the bikes an promised HP goals an track performance which consistently continue to fall well short, are they selling dreams now? For the first time Ive actually considered another bike, yamaha! For example, 2011 zx10r comes out, im siked as hell! all the talk about possible 200hp blowing away bmw an its monster, Gonna dominate the circuits an championships again, etc. No!.. now actually what was delivered in reality was a 163 hp bike(20 hp shy of bmw) ,a couple of 10 an 11th place finishes in world superbike debut, including today!!!,O..1 fifth place!! An im just asking myself what are they doing?I love the new 10 but it still does not look like its gonna deliver and not competing in MOTO GP is just bananas to consider yourself one of the best bikes an not compete at the highest level possible! its just disappointing. I think i l c what the new rumored 2012 zx-14 is gonna turn out to be, definitely the only thing to rave about! my next ride.

I hear what you are saying, but remember if comparing the new 10 to say the BM,lets not forget the BM has run for approx 2 years now,and they have not won a superbike race either with arguably better riders than the Kawi. Here in South Africa we get the unrestricted model, and I promise you it is fast,we have raced BM's and not lost.My zx 14 is fast but I must admit the new 10 with a full pipe, flies out and filter on the highway drills me easy up to 300km/h,with riders same weight.Imagine Melandri on the 10 he will be pushing for the podium.I do get your point what do Kawi still see in Vermeulen in WSBK only they will know. Lets give the bike some time,by the way some of the BM's here by us has popped motors like you can not believe,so lets stay GREEN.

I hear you "Green" it isnt like Kaw to let somebody out HP them. 20 HP down is a
far cry from running with the S1000RR. Even the Euro version which is faster
than the U.S. version is still not with the BMW. The annual Masterbike shootout is a
big deal for the companys PR wise and Kaw was more than a second back from the
fast Beemer. Maybe Suzuki will step up next year!!

Thanks guys!you guys make valid points across the board, just wanna c Big green Back on top!! Fast zx14,couldnt have said it any better, we need better riders an why kawi never invests in that as much as the other teams do!!..or it could b that the good riders dont wanna take a chance on a problem proned bike with a history of being hard to tame!..hmmm? I think the one good rider we do have is Juan Lascorz. He was killing in there 600 class an now on the 1000 he is showing his value gaving to learn a whole class an new bike at the same time!Sykes is what i call a comfortable rider, nothin fancy, doesnt try to place to high or low an vermulen is a waste of money! Rossi has had a damn shoulder injury for about a year now an out performing healthy riders an on a new bike himself. They need to start proving themselves an cut the excuses. TNCHIP is also correct, how is it beemer makes a us regulated stock 180 hp an we cant? "acclaimed HP KING?" ..I think the bike is Fn amazing an has loads of power to b unlocked but at a big price!...really? Lets c if the next years revise does something different, im wondering what that 2012 14 is gonna b like!!!

I watched the races also so remember that the ZX was in the top 5 for a while and it started to fall off pace.... Why?? Some idiot chose to run a soft compound tire with a newly updated and entered machine!! I don't give a damn what kind of electronics are on the bike! If you are riding that aggressive only to maintain your position you know damn well its gonna get slippery sooner than later when u have a track like that with so many laps to complete. If they were out front from the beginning and ran off then maybe they "may" last but its not likely. Now don't get amnesia and forget that BMW is "finally" getting in the top 5 after having a full race season to twerk the S1000RR and setup the bike for the rider! And look at who Kawi has employed to ride the bikes!! What!! They don't want to ride at the same pace these guys are riding nowadays! Hell I'm more competitive than they are! I understand you don't want to wreck a new machine but if you get on the podium then it was worth it! No podium! Kawi will move on eventually! Invest in some riders and not just the machine Kawi!! And if you're that green then you know Kawasaki Motor Corp and how they operate! I am not surprised at what they've done to the ZX10R but it would be nice to make it a lot easier and inexpensive to get to the heart of the 10R! S1000RR is a great bike! But if the bike is like the cars... I'll keep my bang for the buck and stick with the 10R and its reliability! The R1 is another bike that I really like also... But this is Kawi territory! And Suzuki hasn't updated the 1k and its in the top 10 still so... What gives?? The Honda is always in the top 5 if not 3! Kawi is doing extremely well to be in the #5 spot right outta the box. They don't even know how well the bike works on any of the tracks realistically but using a soft compound tire is asking for trouble. Went from 5th to 12th or so real quick!

Stock beemer 176hp
Stock reflashed(250$) zx10 181hp
Same dyno, that gives lower readings then most.
Zx10 is lighter
This is real world where I live-so what's to complain about? And its cheaper.

The complaint is that stock to stock the ZX10 is not even close and it should be
better because they knew what the S1000RR was, why show up outgunned.
As for price the ZX10 is not cheaper its 13800 for the base with a 1 year warranty,
the Beemer is 13900 with a 3 year warranty and things like stainless brake lines
already on the bike.Warranty may not matter to you if you reflash the ECU you have no
warranty on a brand new bike.

I agree with the complaint on having a restricted bike that has 20+hp less then the euro, and kawasaki engineers must have been hung over on saki when they "couldnt" make it quiet enuff.
The price on the new 10? Dealers here are coming off substantially on the ZX10,just like they do on all Kawasaki's. Beemer dealers DO NOT budge on that bike(that they have a tough time selling in Texas btw).
Waranty? Your kidding right? I had kawasali replace a clutch basket and a motor on my 2000 zx12. Actually,my dealer did. The basket was on a 1270 big bore bike. You don't think my dealer and I won't get kawasaki to cover a flashed 10??

Kaw dealers are coming off retail because of the HP not being there, but my Beemer
dealer here in Nashville did budge off sticker not slash but enough to make you feel
they cared about selling it to you. This was a dealer that I had never done a dollar of
business with before so if your local dealer says they wont try the next town over.
Not kidding about the warranty, Kawasaki sells their own ECU fix and they state very
clearly that installing it will void engine warranty. If your local Kaw dealer is willing to
leave a few facts out of their warranty claims that would be nice for you but the manufacturers are pretty good at warranty audits for their dealers. Its hard to get
a service writer, the mechanic, and everyone thats knows to be quiet so most dealers
play strictly by the book.
