Poll Question: How long till the 2011 10R is Hacked? (poll)
Well... from the time it's available in stores - how long will it take for someone here to come up with a hack to crack it wide open that doesnt require a new ECU?

I say between 9-12 months or if you and Shane don't stop disagreeing on the redline you may use your special Bikeland Mojo with an undisclosed special contact that will spit out a solution when you buy one and disgusted with 176 hp or whatever it is

I hope Kaw does not follow Yamaha's lead ,the R1's ECU slams the door on high rpm
HP for the same EPA noise reason. This cannot be "hacked" at home with a computer
as it is "firmware" built into the ECU.

Yamaha did the same thing to their WR450....BUT there is a gray wire you can cut to bring back the High RPM map. Wondering if the R1 has the same feature????? And maybe there is something similar in the Kwak.

If only the R1 was like the WR, no such luck. R1 is a fly by wire bike so to cut the top end
the ECU sends a 80% throttle signal at high rpm even with the throttle against the stop.

Are you sure they didn't actually stop the throttle at 80%?? The WR has a throttle stop in the carb that severely limited how far you opened the throttle. You have to cut the stop screw to get full throttle..

No the R1 has no mechanical connection to the throttle plates ,it is "fly by wire"
When you see the code from the ECU the throttle input is based on several factors
such as twistgrip, rpm, etc. In most situations 100% "twist" gets you 100% signal to the
engine for max thrust, but on U.S. models the throttle chops to 80% just past 10K RPM.
This is why the Yammy boys are selling so many race ECU's.

Some how some of the independent folks get their hands on schematics and have stuff ready and for sale before the bikes are even released! I give it between a month before and up to a month after the 2011 release date.
