New Purchase 2008 ZX-10R

I now have a bike again, since an accident totaled my ZX-14.

I walked into the dealership "just to look" at the bikes. I ended up buying a blue 2008 ZX-10R! I made a $7499 offer on a new bike, and they accepted it! Go figure!

I installed a battery tender and spools. I have sliders, but it looks like I need to do some cutting.

I found the Service Manual online

Next is a smaller front sprocket, looks like a 16T. Then the Speedohealer.

I didn't realize that the ZX-10R had flies. I guess I will be removing them soon. And adding a PC and an exhaust sometime soon.

I will be looking for more projects on this Forum. Any suggestions?

Congrats on the new bike!!! I have a full akrapovic and BMC filter. Made a huge difference. I dont know if the flys on the 1000 make that much difference like they do on the 14. I havn't changed my sprockets yet but thinking about it. My bike is faster than all the other bikes here where I live and I outweigh all of the other riders I've raced. I just changed the oil to synthetic as well. I have a guy here that is going to change the foam under my seat to gel and keep the stock cover. It won't change the shape just make it better for long trips. I wil let you know how it works out. He should be doing it by this weekend.

Thanks for the info DragonRider. You give me something to think about. It is interesting that your bike being the fastest without a gear change. Are you talking 1/4 mile track or just running on the streets? Where do you live?

I have been looking at a Brock Street Megaphone exhaust. I like their customer service, and I can get a map for the PC.

Now, I am reviewing the Akrapovic, looks pricey. I am not familiar with that product. Is there a good supplier that has a good price and supplies maps?

It looks like I will be leaving the flies in. The filter is a good idea. I always use synthetic oil, have not changed that yet.

just running on the streets. The bike corners about 20% better than the 05 10 r I owned. Its not a drag racer. If you want 1/4 mile the 05 is a better choice, it has more torque in lower rpms and can get you started sooner. But if we are already moving and can get into the HP then the bike is amazing. Just the exhaust change will wake up the bike, it made a huge difference for me. With the stock pipe the bike feels like a 600 under 8000 rpms, now it spins up in second if I crack it at 5000. Even though i know the speedo isnt accurate, it touches 299 in 5th. I've owned a 12r, an 05 10 r and the 08 10r and driven an 06 10r and this is for sure the fastest and craziest. The 05 I find in higher RPMs isnt as potent or didnt feel as potent anyway, around 265 kph it would slow down a lot as I was accelerating, the wind protection wasnt half as good. I was catching a lot of wind on my shoulders slowing the bike down. The 08 I hardly feel the wind. One of the things for sure that helps it hit higher speeds easier. I had considered sprocket changes but i have trouble not wheelying already, the bike still power wheelies in 4th....at 265....hehe. Love this bike. I've been reading a lot about Brock products and everyone sure seems happy with his customer service and products. My full akrapovic system was around $1200.00. Its hydroformed so no welds. Looks awesome. Its a little more pricey but I've had it on all my bikes so I just keep buying the product, looks awesome and has a great sound. Im using the european map as it makes more power supplied by akrapovic. Now you can buy a power commander that automatically adjusts your mapping on the fly so you may want to look into that. It uses an o2 sensor that plugs into your pipe according to my supplier. I'm interested iin that for sure.

Things you need to upgrade your 2008 to the ultimate in your face sport bike.

IMG]http://i574.photobucket.com/albums/ss181/dragonrider10r/zx10r002copy.jpg[/IMG]

"In you face" Ninja zx 10r Black windscreen with the ultimate "I own you" Ninja cross eye eliminators.

"Lord Humungous sort of" Akrapovic exhaust or a pipe you like, "Your momma is my sex slave" fender eliminators, "I can see you looking at my butt so stop it unless you are a girl" power commnader and
"You wish you had my bike" BMC filter. For starters.

Have fun with your new bike!

Here are a couple pics of my bike!

Yesterday, I went on a 240 mile ride from Sacramento to Lake Berryessa, Aetna Springs, Middletown, Clear Lake and back to Sacramento. A pretty good trip. Weather was great. A CHP layed down spike strips to catch a Porche east of Berryessa.

Nope. I can't edit any of my above posts.

I think I can for the first few hours. But after a certain amount of time, the capability goes away.

...

I just posted this and can edit it. The edit button disappears after some time goes by.

Awesome ride you have there! Gratz!

I have not done the exhaust yet. I will probably go with a slip on, but the Akra sure is nice.

Since my purchase, I have installed Tech-Spec Snakeskin, Ivans TRE-009, that is supposed to disable the KIMS and retarted timing. Also an Ignition Module and a PC3 with Ivans map. I am very satisfied with the power. Lots of fun to ride!

Cheers
