This is better suited in this thread...
From what I heard last year the factories are not going to chase the rules any longer. They are very tired of the politics of WSB and AMA SB and are going to race what they make and if the rules dont alow the bikes they make then they simply wont race. Kawasaki and honda are rumored to be pulling out of WSB, and suzuki in WSB, well...
WSB wont bring in much sponsor supprt if the factories arnt there with top teams. Just look at AMA 750 SS. Its been a foot note on race day for many years.
All the factories are focusing on one class at this time. Thats moto gp.
Formula extreme will be the most contested class in the USA in the coming years.
AMA Superbike is in big trouble. Just look at all the politics in the AMA right now. They are scrambling just to stay one step behind.
I still think the ideal Bore/Stroke puts the liter class at about 1030 cc.
ZXR-1000 (1030cc)
short forked
single seat
radial brakes
composite subframe (plastic alum.)
plastic fueltank
CV fuelinjection
lightest wheels in the industry
Lets see what happens.

The new Aprilia Tumano (sp?) looks like a real butt kicker of a Hooligan bike. I wonder how the ZR1000 will stack up with it.

The Aprilia Tumano is a V-twin. Should be a good curve burner. Now if you talking about straight line performance, The ZR1000 with two extra cylinders should run away from the Aprilia if you take off exhaust and put a real exhaust system on it

The V twin Mille does over 170 mph stock. Thats faster then a ZX9R! And the Tumano or Tomano uses the same engine and isn't detuned like the ZR1000 is. Time will tell when we finally see one for real!!

I would hope not. Kawi needs to step up build a new platform with a new engine focused at destroying the litre class. Suzuki got away with stroking the 750 motor because they had built a butt kicking 750 that ran with the litre class bikes already. They (Suzuki) had effectively revolutionized their 750 motor and the class so they just refined it. Kawi does not have that luxury. If they merely try improving the zx9 they will be cheating all of us. It is time to get serious. They have the GSXR1000, Yamaha R!, and Honda 954 platforms all available. They need to put out a 10 that has more power then the GSXR1000, and is as lighter or lighter then the 954 and runs circle around them all.
Any bets that what we get comes in 4th in the eventual shootout? Our only hope is that they did come out with the 600RR

It is hard to say. The Honda is also looking like it has the potential. Based on magazine writer bias if the Kawi comes in second behind the Honda or Yamaha I will consider it a winner. Setting on the two bikes the Honda felt lighter and I personally like the riding position of the Honda over the Kawi. The Kawi looks great and is definitely going to be competitive. Of course this is all mute at the AMA level as what the factory boys have to ride is not what we will get to buy! I look for Honda to put a big charge on this year. The stable of riders are full!

Will the undertail exhaust on the new Honda 6RR start a trend with all the manufacturers? What has taken them so long to do it with Italian motorbikes having done it for so long already?

I think the fact that Yamaha and Suzuli have essentially handed Honda their head for the past 4 years made them make an all out effort this year. Honda's dealers have beencomplaining and buyin other brands due to the loss of sales and popularity of the Honda. So Honda put together the 600RR and used the V5 like exhaust look as an added kicker.
The underseat exhaust is more dificult and expensive system. It requires more engineering and design as well. It will be harder and more expensive for aftermarket guys to improve on. As it takes them outside of their norm. I would love to see more underseat exhausts but I kind of doubt there will many more.

What is your formidable opinion on the new GSXR10, its a little redesigned with some minor changes, as I'm sure you know. I didnt see one at the show in Seattle.
I'm assuming the front headlight assy on the new GSXR10, that is like the one on the Busa, is going to make its way across the entire GSXR line of bikes eventually.
