"T he 10R handles better than the R1 in dry conditions."

Has that statement ever been made before?

ZX-10R 170 hp versus 162 hp for the Yamaha....and the more the seat time the better the rider could dish out the Kawasaki's power....

not looking good for Honda stevefl..... hahahaha..... it's all good!!

have fun!!

Honda has no worries. and the 2008 R1 is actually the 07, its not a redesign. The Honda I still bet on.

And again I'm not brand loyal, I like b oth bikes. I wouldn't mind another Kawi litre bike in my garage. But I think Honda will do in the litre bike class what they did in the 600 class last year. Its just my suspision, and I'm glad I'm not brand loyal.

Look how brand loyal I am, I've had Hondas and Kawasakis galore and loved both, and went and bought a yamaha (only bike I've never owned of the big four). And it totally smokes azz in thje looks arena. Bottom line is I don't care which bike wins but I suspect it'll be Honda over Kawi :P :P

and salsa, the Kawi handling - I'm sure "the more seat time" thing applies. Thats why I think Honda is going to smoke it in both the street and race track shootouts

both dyno numbers are BS, the R1 at 162 and the ZX10 at 170. The ZX10 at 170 is more than the ZX14. Paleez people, this is that same brit mag thats known for not being credible lmao

I gotta post this for the boys in ZX14 that have seen real '08 14 dyno pulls.

you guys believe anything on the net :P

No Steve, you can go on and on about the Honda doing in the Litre class what the 600 did, but that doesn't make it true.
You are the only guy saying that and the mags that have ridden the 10 (and like mcn compared it with the R1) are already putting the 10 on top. Also remember that all the guys that will be riding the bikes in the shootouts have a relative amount of skill and will therefore be able to utilise the 10 better than a squid off the street. The honda will be easy for an inexperienced rider to ride his or hers fastest. The 10 will require more skill... just remember who does the testing...

Plus the reason the gsxr has been taking top spot in the shootouts is because of power and decent handling... bikes won't win shootouts on gearboxes and excellent handling.
Plus from reports you cannot deny that the guys are saying the 10 handles very well this year. Plus is has the power... plus if my zx6 gearbox is anything to go by... then the 10's gearbox is going to be incredible!!!! (Yes the zx6 has got a better gearbox than the cbr600 according to shootouts which you love to much anyways)

I know you're not brand loyal and you even know you could be wrong... I sure am hoping you're wrong, but hey, I could be wrong too :P But so far the FACTS are in the 10's favour and you can't deny that

Oh and if those dyno figures where both taken on the same day on the same dyno then they are accurate to that particular test in comparison of those two bikes. If not... then there's no point in even considering those figures at all. even tho we know the 10 will have more than the R1... so that will be true...
dyno figures are a bit of a mind f8@k and should only really be used for a comparison on ur own bike after making upgrades... or unless all bikes are read on the same dyno.

Either which way the 10 will own

The 10 doesn't make more HP out of the box than the ZX14, no matter what MCN claims. And there are plenty of accurate ZX14 charts out. Sure the ZX10 makes more HP than most litre bikes. But HP is minimal for total compared to handling braking etc, (except on a drag strip where the 10 has thrived).

It doesn't matter to me I've owned my share of Kawi's and will own several more hopefully, but lets be realistic here

Ok ; lets be realistic then...the 600's are making over 100 hp at the rear wheel; how much hp is that per liter?

the ZX-14 is not making over 200 hp with far more than double the displacement of the sport 600's .. why not?

I will tell you why not because the ZX-14 is produced in a milder state of tune compared to the 600's and the same applies when compared to the sport liter bikes stevwfl..you did not know that?

plus the ZX-14 is a torque monster...it does not need to be so high strung to be a great powerhouse...

A 2008 ZX-10R with it's higher compresion and redisigned state of tune can make 170 hp easily from the factory ...why would anyone that knows anything doubt that?

ok.. it might average at 167 or so ... but even then.. it is realistic to get 170 hp from a 2008 ZX-10R literbike.. ...MCM might have.. why? ...because it is not a fantasy to do so...and Kawasaki "can do" stevewfl...techonlgy to do so is there...and finally ...on going competition with liter bikes is driving it to be that way.. and that is also a reality...

...Face the facts...like honda will be last in the liter bike division as well; ok there is a good chance the Yamaha might be last.....

Have fun.. I am sure you can talk and post the Honda "Dull" Blade literbike ...into first place for 2008 hahahaha..lol (just keep telling yourself that....)

BTW:I don't really care either... :P

take care

salsa you're funny. 170 is erroneous, remeber you said this when the true reliable magazines come out with the real dyno pulls. It'll be a humbling experience I'll remind you of.

To side with an unreliable/unproven on line gig surprises me salsa.

I'll bump this thread when the real numbers are posted. Matter of fact, the '08 ZX14 numbers are out. And they are not at 170 (duh)

Bookmarked and can't wait salsa

My ZX10 and ZX12 made the same numbers when new....so why cant this be possible?

besides, like you said, its not the HP its the entire package, so you will get your answer here when they head to Africa next month....

Stevewfl you must be closley related to Pee-wee Herman......very same debating strategies... and ya go on and on..like he has been your hero...thats ok..your entitled... ... ' I know what you are but ewhat am I " hahahahaha

and ya have a red (Yamaha) bycicle with all the bells and whistles just like Herman to boot...lol...

"I know what Kawasaki is but what is Honda? " you have no basis to make any Honda claims stevewfl....

Take it easy guy...soon your pain will be over...more tests will be public soon for all to see...

Expect Honda and Yamaha at the bottom; your crystal ball is busted...should try to get your money back......nothing personal..

but really I don't care ....

have fun...

oh its all good....I'm not brand loyal and don't care either salsa you know brand matters nothing to me, but wow I can't believe how serious some take it around here! I enjoy all the brands, and another ZX litre bike could appear in my stall any day. I just suspect Honda will do for the 1000 what they did last year for the 600RR...and I might eat crow and you're prolly right anyway :P

it was so hard for me to buy a Yamaha, I never cared for them. But I had to, its the only brand I've never owned! And I'm liking it when I did expect too, its a sexy biash for the street! Its so precision feeling I'm thinking about dumping HONDA as my track bike and purchasing an R6!

the litre bikes were all so close in '07 stock (except the heavy Honda) that I can't believe our debate is taking place, but I think Honda will correct that prob.

competition is fierce and its forcing the makers to provide us some good stuff!
