06 zx10r, no brakes, no tach and shuttin down at 10000 rpms

hey guys, ive been on bikes for about 8 years. ive had 7 different bikes due to various reasons.mind u they have all been hondas. last year i felt like changing it up a bit, so i sold my 1000rr and bought a new shiny black zx10r. i havent put many miles on it (2600) but the first thing i noticed was it lagged low end in the first few gears but man when it tacked up, man its fast!! the only problem is that when i grab the brake lever, it had a boat load of travel, no feel, and i found mysef lockin up the rear to get this rocketship to stop! ive invested about $350 in some new galfer lines, and some nice pazzo levers. that gave me a hint more feel and less fade for sure, however the bike still doesnt stop to my expectations. any suggesstions short of buyin the brembo master cylinder?? my next question is does anyone have problems with their tachometer?? mine woks some of the time, and other times is non functional. i think to myself, "man this is practiclly a new bike!" the bike is also having a problem at higher rpms, around 10000 to the red line 13000, the bike is starting to shut down, almost like a miss or a blip in the fuel curve, any help??? noone else i know rides kawi so any help is much appreciated. thanx

You WILL need the Brembo....Sorry.

I tried many basic things to narrow down the fade and feel problem. It's the master.

I do not have any Tach issues. I would check all your connectors to start.

Upper RPM issue......? Do you have a PC?

If you want to de-restrict it at low RPM's in 1-4....Get a GI Pro w/ ATRE.

ive checked the connections to the back of the tach, but no problems seen dude. at least not to my eye.

the bike is completley stock, no mods at all, and ive looked into the glpro, seems like the way to go if i can get some of the rest of these issues out of the way. thanx psyhco

Why bother?!? You still will get brake fade and poor feel with the stock Master.

With the Brembo, you will see GOD!

If you ride does not have any FI codes with the running problem and NO MODS, I would evaluate the basics...Fuel and delivery, plugs, and valve clearances. Oh yeah, check for even compression in all 4 holes.

well dude lemme ask u this, does your bike constantly hiss or whine from the gas tank when u shut the bike off??? the bike does it everytime i shut it off, since i first brought it home. if i take the key and unlock the tank u can hear the pressure release. does this sound familiar???

NO.

I would check the vent lines comming from the tank. On the right front of the tank on the underside there are two vent lines. One with a blue stripe and one with red. Follow them to termination and check for a kink or pinch.

The fuel pump w/o venting will create a vaccume lock and poor fuel delivery.

The radial MC on the 06 should be every bit as good as the Brembo. I have the Brembo, but biggest difference is the pads, I hated the galfer pads and the EBC EE pads seem to have the most bite. As for the running out of power at 10, that is a new one, It could be the emissions stuff if you have a calif model. If not there will only be one line coming out of the tank. The best thing is to remove the emissions stuff.

Ted; The OE radial master works just fine in street conditions. After 3-4 laps at Firebird West and Main, the lever will fade and go soft. Nothing was able to be done to but let it sit and cool off. Good for the first few laps of the next session and so on. I have talked with other 06' 10R racers and owners who have encountered the same issue. The Brembo has made all that go away and more. Power and Modulation are dramtically improved w/o any other mods other than Galfer lines.

Re; the pads, the racers use Vesrah SRJL's or RJL's for best performance. However, the STOCK pads have gotten great feedback from the racers that have ridden my 10.

As for my 06', there are TWO lines comming out in addition to the fuel feed.....Ted, are you indicating that I have a Cali. model? It was purchased in Goodyear Arizona.

Wow, usually a master cyl is not the reason for fade. It sounds like there was air in the system (very hard to feel sometimes) and when you switched the MC you got the air out. Or there was moisture in the system, when there is, the fluid will boil and brakes will fade.
If you have 2 lines coming out of the tank, most likely it is a Calif model, they will go to a vacuum canister which is connected to a charcoal canister. Best thing to do is remove the red line and plug it at the tank, that will allow you to fill up all the way. Then take the blue line and reroute it to the left side and let it vent. Then remove all the rest of the crap and plug all the vacuum lines coming from the throttle bodies. Life will be good, and lighter.

Nope, no air, no moisture. That was addressed repeatedly and properly.

Like I have stated, other local racers and riders w/ 06' have had the same issue with fade.

I still would double check or either a Fuel delivery (flow) issue or Airflow restriction issue before you give up.
