Lost my 10R keys- help!
I searched a little, and couldn't find anything.
I lost my first key about 1 year and a half ago. A couple weekends ago I lost my second key. I have since moved (was staying with the in laws), and the key still didn't show up. I'm so upset! It's totally gone.
Has anyone ever been in this situation? The lowest estimate for a house call and key making is $125. Is that right?
Is there a way to unlock the bars without a key? I think it might be cheaper to get a key made if I can take the bike to the locksmith.
Please help!

Well, I found my key code and had a key cut. It works on the gas cap and trunk. Not the ignition!!!!
Damnit! I heard our keys have a microchip in them that is an anti theft device? Dealer told me thats not true. Anyone know for sure?

smooth the key a little will likely work fine.
The ignition tumblers are more precise

Order a key blank from Kawasaki and have it cut, it'll work.

spcespff,
The 10R has an inmobilizer system. That means that the key has a transponder inside. Any key won´t work, even if it do has a transponder, if it is not registered in the ECU.
The motorcycle comes with 2 black keys and 1 RED KEY.
The red key is used to register new user keys (Black ones) in the case you lost them.
If you don´t have the red key you will not be able to register a new user key in the main ECU, and you will have to exchange the black box (ECU) for a new one (it comes with a set of keys)
The red key may also be used to run the motorcycle, but it shouln´t be used on regular basis, as if you lost it you won´t be able to register any new user keys.
If you have EMULE (p2p file sharing program) you can get the ZX10R Service Manual from there. There is a chapter for the inmobilizer system.
Hope you solve your problem fast and get riding again soon!!
Regards
