There goes the neighborhood

Word is Ducati got their 1200cc's in WSB. Look for an 1198R next year. Can you say "holy shit?" I knew you could.

Great, back to the old days in WSB. I wonder how many Championships Ducati will have to win this time before all the other manufacturers leave again. I hear Alstare Suzuki is already going to GP next year because of it.

I do hope Honda builds a 1200 V-Twin like the RC51 to show them the way round again, affordable and in high numbers; no more expensive limited models, leave that crap to Ducati.

Ducati already had a 11sumthin version of the bike anyway - not like this is any surprise.

Y'all know Hardly Ableson was a sponsor of the NHRA over the last coupla years - right?

That 1098 is one sexy bitch filet-o-fish, but the 1198 R is going to be insane. If I get one I can have 6 figures of Duc in the garage.

With the formula extreme letting 800cc twins play and now 1199cc twins in world superbike I hope the 800cc kawi rumored is a twin and am also hoping for a heavily revised 1150+cc RC-51.

My 1st sportbike was a Superhawk, I loved that little twin and have wanted another but couldn't get around the extra weight/less hp with no real torque advantage comared to the inline 4's. A mass produced and affordable 1200cc RC"whatever" would be something to shake up the market. Seeing how the inline 4's are gaining so much weight over the past 5 years(Suzuki GSXR1000@471lbs!) due to emmisions I wonder how a 1200twin would make competitive hp while keeping the weight lowwer than 470? Aren't they harder to pass emmisions?

What if it's a gutless, overweight pile of shit with no ground clearance like the original RC51?

Are you asking me or someone else? Like I said myself it's underpowered/overweight compared to literbikes, but personally I wouldn't be so quick to just call it a "pile of shit".

Back in 2000 all the V-Twin sportbikes were underpowered and overweight compared to the literbikes. The RC51 is now over 7 years-old without the 2 year revision cycle to keep it fresh, and I believe no longer in production. If Honda were to keep development on the 51 in the past 7 years plus an extra 100cc displacement it would probably make about the same hp/torque as the current Ducati 1098, that's not even mentioning the power of a 1200cc Ducati 1198/RC??.

But then again in the past 7 years the literbikes have gained alot of weight to make the 2000 RC51 seem alot less overweight (kinda actually).

Suzuki's 470+pound GSXR1000 now weighs close to the 2000 RC51, not bad for a 7 year-old "pile of shit".
