Fantasy Club Racing?
... or what the fast guys do during their time off.
This weekend, at the CMRA final event held at Texas World Speedway, there will be a new team entering the 6 hour endurance race. They will be running a GSXR 1000 and the members of this new (and for one race only) team will include:
Kevin Schwantz - 500GP World Champion
Ben Spies - AMA Superbike Champion
Ty Howard - AMA FX/Superbike racer - holds current lap record at all CMRA tracks and runs the Ridesmart school
John Haner - AMA Superstock racer
Randall Kienast - AMA Superstock racer
Ty, John and Randall are regulars at CMRA events and Ben started his career in CMRA. There are a long list of AMA future riders in the mix as well. Like Cory Burlson who won the AMA Horizon Award at the AMA Road Racing Grand Championship. Not to mention that the CMRA team won the Team Challenge, beating out some of the best of club level racers from WERA and CCS and other organizations.
All I gotta say is this is the type of riders BMR has to compete against. No wonder we can't get any podiums in big bike endurance!
