1st time at the track with the 10R.

Damn, that's about all I can say about the 10 as a track bike. Too much fun for any man to have. The 12R is a fat pig by comparison. I missed all 3 of the morning sessions getting the suspension sorted out. Turned out the wrong fork springs were installed before I bought the bike so the front end was all fucked up, which accounted for me not being able to dial things in properly on the street. In fact at any kind of track speeds the bike prolly would have thrown me to the pavement the way things were. Fortunately, Ken who owns Superbike Italia was at the track Friday and he figured out what the hell was wrong pretty quick, so now I have a new correct size set of Ohlin's springs and a professionally tuned suspension. Holy shit what a difference.

The 10 was meant to be on the track, this is a race bike in street bike cloths. I cut 7 seconds off my previous times on the 12R AND we were running the track counterclockwise so it was like a new track for me too. This bike flicks into corners without a thought, has tons of power, the brakes are amazing (steel braided lines, Carbon Lorraine pads) and I was hurting the Pilot Powers on it.

Just had a blast and can't wait to get to Mid-Ohio in Sept.

Ready to go.

I scraped my shifter a few times, this means I have to get further off the bike, that is one of my biggest issues I have to train on. And prolly get some racing rear sets

Anyway, thought I'd share how fired up I am about this bike. Outside of being seriously disappointed in having to drop $300 to get the suspension sorted out, I am one happy MF.

That's too cool Otis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I knew you would love the 10R. I feel like a traitor to my 12. I'll always love the 12 but the 10 is the BOMB! I need to get my suspentioin set up properly as well for my big ass. What was wrong with the sprngs? Too stiff or soft?

that great to hear that more people are taking it to the track. Last month I took my 05 10r to the track and it was unbelieveable experience, now that's all I was to do. What track did you go to? Wait till you start buying fun performance part for it. There not stoping.

Gunner, they were too long, when I bought it there were .85 Race Tech Springs in it, but they were 270mm long, not the 250mm that the 10R calls for. They could have been made to work if a new spacer had been installed to correct for the difference in length, that would have been a "ghetto fix" for it though. As it was the front end was like it had no suspension. When Ken checked the sag the front was at 20mm. Not good at all.

The Ohlins that I had put in it now are 250mm and with Ken professional set up, it handles like no bike I've ever ridden.

Yes the 10 has me hooked something fierce brother, you were right, the 12 to me now is a good friend for sure, but more like an old girlfriend that got fat over the winter and while you still may ride her occasionally she just doesn't bust your nut like she used too. LMAO

Kawi4life, it was at Grattan here in Michigan. Challenging track for sure.

What's that green stuff on the side of the track? Is that some special run-off padding they put over the rocks and gravel?

No I did not miss the torque, not at all, this bike is plenty quick. I guess that's the best way to describe it with how light it is, just quick. She's a rocket at anything above 9K. But damn I HATE the LED tach. That has to be the most disappointing thing about the bike. It's useless.

For you Mark? The 10R for sure. The 14 seems like a sweet bike but the 10 is made for what you and I like to do.

like i have said to Gunner before i have a 2 hour ride out of Charlotte just to get to the mountains, that is why i was thinking about the 14. But once i get to Blueridge parkway and the gap i no the 10 would be the shit. Otis and i have had alot of great times on the ZX 12 over the years in East Tenn. This cat can turn and burn with the best of them, i know he will be setting the track on fire before you no it.

Yeah Mark, we have rode quite a few miles together in mountains haven't we. Fun stuff. I still love the 12, she calls to me all pissed off when I'm paying attention to my 10 now though. LOL This 10 though on the track is like peas and carrots man.

Not real happy about scraping my shifter crotchrocket I will be ordering some kind of rearset today. The Vortex one's are nice and $339, the Gilles are way expensive. I'll check out the Attack one's though Gunner. Where did you get them and how much?

My suspension is hooked up good now zx1kr. Having a professional Race suspension set up guy do the work was awesome. The only way it can get better for me know is a new Ohlins rear shock, and I will get that for Christmas. I've already told Santa.

So when are you gettin' some race plastics? Great for track days and cost less then $400. zx1kr and GUNNER are right. Spend the $$$ on the suspension, get some rearsets and maybe a Brembo MC.

I got Traxxion fork internals, Penske shock and had Raceworx do the set-up tuning. They do the work on our race bikes. The best part is that it's set up for back roads, but I get free tweaking at track days. Now, if I could just get the time away from the team to do some more track days.

I also got the Vortex adjustable rearsets and a Brembo with Gafler Superbike lines. I'm glad I spent the money there instead of a PCIII and a custom map. Not that I wouldn't want one, but the "bang for the buck" just ain't anything like the suspension work.

Red, I'm waiting on Bart for some stuff. He is selling his 10R this winter to get a 636 for racing. I'm going to buy his race bodywork, his Brembo MC and quite a few other goodies off him cause he's putting his 10 back to stock to sell.

Here is our boy Bart and this is the bodywork and fuel tank I'm buying from him. I'm not a fan of the green but this looks kickass. How he doesn't crash at all during his last track days and races this fall.

The only thing I'm missing for suspension now is the rear shock and I'll take care of that this winter. My 10 has the Speigler braided lines already and with the Brembo MC I should be good to go with brakes, they are great as is though. The rear sets I'll get getting shortly.

Over the winter I'll probably get a pipe and the PCIII with custom map.

Suspension is the key though, I was just amazed at how well the bike handled with the professional set up.

Went with the Vortex, $339.

I would not buy a green bike, but I like the look of the race body work with the number plates.
