front wheel wobble

recently I have been noticing my front wheel wobble at 140 and up really bad. Even when i'm going into corners now it seems to wobble some. I have the 06ZX10R and already have 5000miles on it. I recently got a rear tire put on and I do alot of wheelies. Landed hard a few times but not alot. The other day I did a 3rd gear wheelie going 110 and when I put it down it went into a horrible wobble for nearly 7 sec. i almost wrecked. Yes I know it's my own fault for doing what I do, guys i'm just lookin for some feedback on what could be the problem. I haven't adjusted the steering damper ever at all since the bike new either. Hope I gave u enough info. thanks for any feedback

besides the fact your likely burning flat spots into the front tire, when it comes down and is turning much slower than you are travelling, the damper oil could be breaking down.

Some guys drain the stock oil, and dump heavier stuff inthe damper, not sure about the new zx10, but they have been doing the damper oil change on busa's for years.

Tighten up the damper, check for leaking fork seals, and replace the front tire!

You might want to have your triple tree bearings checked by a tech in addition to what dubious said.

Lift the front tire make sure there is no load on the tire. Then check if you have play on your head bearing. After that use a dial indicator and see if your wheels are bent. If they are all good you can start playing with your damping and rebound. Other than that I really don't know what to tell you. Good luck!

If the tire you fitted was not a match for the front and a different brand, that could cause instability. Also after slamming the front down a few times, you may have weakened the fork springs which will effectively steepen the steering angle from additional sag and cause less stability. Try measuring the sag and crank up the preload if necessary. Stock steering damper setting is next to nothing and it's there for a reason, so turn up the clicks so that you can feel some resistance to the steering.

could be loose steering stem bearings
setting down hard can loosen them

worse case you dinged your rim
which canalso be fixed
yet if you ride that hard
you will do it again

thats both of the above
last but not least
you may also have knackered your swingasrm bearings
tougher than thay used to be
yet i kjnow not how abusive youve been

we can always hope you will settle down
ride with skills
& enjoy the hell out of a fantastic machine
b4 yoy mess it & yourself up

we can hope.....................................
in that case repair all of the above
if problems persist
make an appointment with GMD Computrak
or a local francised dealer of same

they will straighten your bike out

good luck

Thx for the feedback guys. I should rephrase my post though as I just reread it. It is not the front wheel that is wooblin it is the bike goes into a wooble... like the handle bars start going side to side a bit. How would I check this front bearing your talking about when I have the bike up? Everything seems to be in working order on the bike and looks good. I see no dents on the rims and from a eye it all looks straight. Now i realize just a slight bit some of u would say can make a big difference, but all in all the bike seems ok. I didn't think of the flat spots on the front tire from coming down and that I will look into. The tire is a match name wise and style sorta. this one is a track one I got for free. Its really sticky on the outer sides and has tread in the middle. I only got it cause I was tryin to wait to get one matchin set for when my front tire was due. which my front is nearly due, def. won't pass inspection. I should prob. adjust the steering dampner since never have. Have to look in the book for which way to turn it, clockwise or counter. Just a note, but I do put a hell of alot of miles on bikes here. Usually when i get to 20000 I just sell the bike and get another new one. Too much wear on everything at that point anyways. As I stated in 3 months I have put 5000 miles on over many a mountains here in Pennsylvania. Anyways I realize i'm not treatin the bike perfectly, but I just always rode "hard." I have already paid dearly for doing that, and we all go one day. Why not make it on the thing u love most. LOL
