06' zx-10 went down saturday......... well i share the blame...kinda....i took my 10r in for first service and got a hook up on the detail.....3.5 miles to my house all right handed turns....5 days later the weather was nice and i was off work...first left hand turn in front of a po-po (3 blocks back) almost completed the turn, off the cluth @ 8 mph on the throtle steady and the ass-end came out....down i went. the cop turns on his lights and gets out as i'm picking up my bike and asks..."what happened"....i made a curse word remark and pulled the bike to the side of the road
and dropped the kickstand. we looked and found no oil or water on the road...but the back tire was so sparkley and shiny!!!!.......WTF !!!!. i didn't get a ticket and immediatly road the bike to my local dealer.. belive it or not but he was prety cool about the whole thing...he told me to go to the doctor his insurance would cover it. he didn't understand i've had hella road rash befor it was nothong new but the reason i went down was the plastic polish on my tires. i was not looking for a pay check my job supplies that.my left handle bar end cap, clutch handle and just a small part of the faring was damaged. i had a death grip on the clutch and stayed under the bike to prevent the gas tank and rear faring from hitting the pavement. i lost a good bit of skin on my left elbow (no jacket...i know) but it's nothing new. the passenger left foot peg and my kick stand helped to keep off the rest of the paint...i've been riding for 16+ years and got to excited to ride the "bitch".....and never looked to see the tire had polish on it, my dealer ordered all the parts for me and gave appologies for days. i was suprised..most dealers would weasel their way out or tell them to sue em'. instead he picked up the tab and gives me deep discounts. but i perform my own labor....big whoop! with only 807 miles it's still brand new to me....and i call her the bitch for good reason....past 8,000 rpm and she stands up and tries to throw you off nothing subtle just raw get the f#ck off me power.....take time to perform your inspections...you never know...it could be you next....it's embarassing but it happened maybe i can prevent someone else from making such a stupid mistake..... ride hard ....but safe

Sucks you had a get off like that. I trry and check my tire pressure everytime before I ride. Now I have even more reason to inspect the tires.
Years ago I had an IROC-Z Camaro and I always had to remind the detailer to not put Armor All on the tires for the same reason.

Next time you get a tire put on guys, have them take the old one and use it to scrub the shiny off the new one. All they have to do is put the bike up on a rear stand, put the bike in 1st gear and run it at idle speed while letting the old tire drag over the new new one. Takes all the shiny off no problem!

Happen to me in 02 w/ my zx6r brand new. never told me to be careful w/ sharp turns and new tires. We stopped at a rutters gas station for a coffee and take some pics of the bike. when we went to go leave i made a left turn out and gave it some gas through the turn just as you said and the back tire broke loose. spun round and i ended up fallin on my left side and broke my collar bone. When I got my ZX10R this year i rode very carefully and got my first 100 break in miles on the tires first thing. The dealer I went to in OHIO actually did warn me before I left about the new tires and I had to chuckle kinda thinkin back. He said either smoke it briefly or use some sand paper on it by hand. anyways my story.. sorry bout your luck though..
