Tick Sound From Engine 2006 ZX10
I hear ticking noise coming from the engine upon deceleration, usually when quickly coming to a stop. Sounds like a marble in a can, or gravel hitting the fairings. Usually only 3-4 ticks then stops . Bike runs fine. Anyone have any ideas. Mods: Akro bolt ons, Power Commander, BMC air filter, removed secondary butterflies.

Ditto. My '05 does a very similar thing. Seems to be coming from the exhaust pipe. No problems so far.

Just to make sure we are talking about the same sound...I'm not talking about the valves ticking. It seems that is normal for these bikes. It almost sounds like there are little pieces of gravel inside the engine. I only hear it when braking real fast or accelerating fast. It is not loud enough to hear over the other engine noises, and it doesn't seem to be RPM related. It sounds like gravel hitting the fairings, and it happens all the time. The bike rides fine though. Just concerned.

If you removed the the pulley from the servo motor located under the seat when you did your mods, it's possible the gears from the servo shaft got out of sync/time. When they do, they kinda "hunt" or rachet. I've seen several do this. It does not seem to affect anything when the cables are detached, but it can be annoying. If it was this, it would make that same noise when you turn the ignition on and it cycles (the engine does not have to be running). Just a thought.

I didnt do the exhaust butterfly mod yet. Just the secondary throttle body butterfly mod. The sound comes from the tank area.
