FRONT BRAKE PADS?
What would be a good aftermarket replacement for the front brake pads? Good for the streets/ trackdays....

Stock worked ok, I switched to galfer no diff. But I just put in EBC HHsuperbike racing pads last track day and I have to say WOW! Big diff. I was breaking at the same markers and was stopping way to fast. I had 20 feet of open space before I got to the turn. One finger stoppies. Yes, that good. Of all the things I have done to my bikes (ZX10R ZX6R) I can only think of 2 things that when installed I said wow this will realy help my lap times 1. front and back suspesion 2. factory pro Star Shift kit. And now I can say 3. EBC hh pads. Every thing else Power commanders, exhaust, wheels, hand controls, rearsets, are all good,. But those 3 things I can say will make me faster.

EBCs have a reputation for fade on the 10r. The fast guys are running Vesrah SRJLs.

Whos the fast guys? And $100 per calliper is out of my league. Who knows maybe when we all start doing endurance races we will splurge for such pads. But for track days and sprint races EBC are great.

I use SRJL-17's.
Phil, Greg Melka and I had a disagreement whether or not EBCs fade. Maybe for his R6 they don't, but I sure found it to be so for my 636 (with Kit pads). I only use the Vesrah SRJLs on the 636 and 10R now.
Yes, they're pricey. Yes, they work, work great, and near as I can tell, KEEP working great. I *don't* do endurance races (ask me how I learned I have arthritis in my shoulder). They don't fade after four back-to-back sprint races. They don't bite less after the 6th race, either.

Cool, I will try those next. Thanks for the info. Its good info, explained! Not just "the fast guys are doing it", thanks.I haven't found the EBC to fade yet but I only have one track day on them. After a few more I will see how they react. They do have a great bite though and are a upgrade from stock or the Galfer

HDL...............I have CM66's on my 12R and I'm NOT impressed. Possibly I can't keep enough heat in them to work their best? They just don't impress me with their initial bite. I'm thinking I should have went with the 55s.

Did you notice any noise when you added the EBC pads (squeeling). Not much noise, but it is there!

No noise. I had another track day, getting around 7 laps in a session, one being warm up and no fade. 110 degrees a little humid and people were dropping like flies(dehydrated). Guy next to me went to the hospital cause he passed out. I found EBC reformulated these pads about a year ago so maybe opinions are based on older pads. I talked to a few club guys and they all used Carbone Lorraine. So I guess everybody has something else and I will just have to try them all.

I have heard that about the Cm66's gunner....been debating over the 55's or the 66's...i really liked the 55's....on the track I think the 66's woudl be good as they will get plenty of heat....on the street, I think the 55's woudl be the better choice...

Noise cured

I put the heat plates back in and this has cured the noise. Not a problem with the stock pads, but the EBC's need them. They may be slightly tapered to prevent squeel as well as disperse heat build up.
I have more lever travel again because of this but have to say that the EBC's are a major improvement over stock. Maybe not the best but better.

those little disks arent good for diddly, except maybe helping to reduce noise in the breakes.....I have run them in, and out....with no difference in fade or perfomacne....or noise for that matter......
