Steering Damper... need, or want??
I read about people installing dampers on a regular basis... If I only do street riding and highway riding at 130km/hr max..(ofcaoarse the odd 200 or so) will I notice a difference in handling if I had a damper? I don't plan on going to the track...

have you ever been in a tank slapper, or road a wheelie, or hit a corner at with any speed at all? that should be the first thing you put on your bike, you may think ya dont have much use for it, but you will be able to tell a big difference in the bikes stability

damper is one of those things that you wont think you need till its too late....I put one on every sportbike no matter what the intent is for it, track or street....tank slappers suck ass

Well, guess it's settled then. That'll be my next expense. I might sound a bit green asking this, but what exactly is a "tankslapper"?

when you get into a tank slapper you will know it. ever see a video where a bike is going from side to side ? looks like all the ridder has to do is hold the bars straight, well its not
as easy to gain control as you think, and the outcome is pretty much always bad. a good damper will help you get that under control and keep it from happing in the first place

I installed a scotts steering damper on my 05. You're not going to see any difference if you're just doing normal normal runs. I ran mine in the track without it. About a month ago after it was installed, my front end got really light from hard acceleration. Thank God I had the damper I think it did make a difference. IMHO...

I refuse to ride any bike on the track without a damper....on the street I dont push as hard so they chances are less likely.....if you are a wheelie guy then by all means install a damper and a good one with a solid mounting application
