A quick race report
Hell's Dark Lord showed up at Arroyo this weekend, in time for this weekend's races. Also present were Doug Chandler and his son Kitt, together with the rest of the Chandler family.
HDL on the 10R is a quick gent, running 1:16's; he managed to make it past my defensive lines in my fifth race of the day, and I just gave him the rest of the racetrack uncontested, just finishing the laps for the last three laps of the red-flagged/restarted race in the 102' heat. (That sounded good, right? He went by me easily...)
For me, this was an event-filled day.
I had a million-dollar lowside today on my 636, forced a turn in practice I should have run off in, and tucked the front at about 96 MPH. Bike's fine, I'm fine, the most minor damage you could ever imagine - a little scuff on the footpeg, a little scuff on the slider, a little scuff on the Woodcraft case cover, and the kiss of asphalt on the bar-end and lever-end; not one thing broken. I will light a candle tomorrow.
I had the strangest thing happen today. I was speaking with a new racer, and he was ALL PISSED OFF that I was making it hard for him to get around me (he did, when I got tired in my fifth race). He was seriously trying to tell me that I just sucked, since I wouldn't let him have the inside line. Well, Hel - Lo?
Anyway, I managed a pair of third places - HWSB (on my 636), and Formula 40.
Fun stuff. Anyone from this board plan to be at the AFM races in T'Hill next month?

Cool that the damage was so minor. As for the new racer, well shame on you for not getting out of his way. NOT. I just ride track days but I hear stuff like that all of the time. Or the one like "that dumb a&& had no idea where he was going. When we started into the turn he went way outside so I thought he wanted me to go by but then he just dove down to the inside at the center of the corner and then the dummy just wanders back to the outside at the exit of the corner. He was all over the track. I just let him go."

hey Dave, I had a great time on my first race weekend thak in no small part to you. Its nice to have people you dont really know take you under their wing and show you the ropes and make sure I was tracking.
And let me tell ya, you roll that 600 pretty dam fast. You are a tough hombre to get around when you want to be.
And I was very impressed with all the guys on the track that day. Everyone was very courteous in their riding. I only had one close call and that was going into turn one after the restart of the money race. Drag raced to the first corner with one of the guys on the blue GSXR's and I got their first, but I was on the left.....you know where that is going. We got really close but didnt touch so its all good.
All in all a great time.

Yeah, it's club racing, and a great club. The blue-bike guys will learn, as we all do when we start.
It was a blast watching Mr Chandler going into turn one at speed during the endurance race Saturday.
You can pit with/next to me anytime, don't be shy - my pitmate Philbie doesn't REALLY bite (you didn't meet him last weekend). I'll even share my (Roger's) grill
