Finally first ride out and not good!!
I have finally got my 05 ZX10R on the road and from the first ride out I noticed two things.
Firstly the front brakes are the worst I have ever had on any bike I have owned in the last 6 years. Do these take time to bed in more than normal?
I have cleaned them and stripped the pads out, but still not that brilliant. It seems to lack real power when slowing the bike (four fingers needed), anyone had a similier experience. They dont come close to the Brembos on my Aprilia, but they were the best brakes I have had to date.
I will probably look to get some braided hoses to try and get better lever response and pressure. Maybe OE pads are no good??
Secondly, at 4500 rpm the bike has a vibration that sounds like something is loose, anyone had this problem?
The bike vibrates alot anyway, but this is actually a very noisy and distinct vibration sound that comes form he front of the bike, possibly airbox or something like that.
If anyone has a fix or thoughts on this, let me know. I havent had a Kwak for a while, this may be my last one for a while longer.

Welcome to the ZX10. Switch to an 05 636 radial master to cure the brakes, or a Brembo unit. The motor noise is constant with all of these 10Rs.

lastman as gunner stated the 636 master or brembo is about the only fix for that. your noise up front is most likley contact of the upper screen panel. here's a how too.

Thanks for the comeback.
I would have thought the bike journos would have given more info on the average brakes, they seemed to rate them when you read the tests!
Thanks for the info on the potential vibration noise fix.

yeah Ive done the braided lines and sinterd ebc pads but the brakes are still lacking
the brembo master cylinder is next for me
That link from fattkaw is realy interesting and makes sense of that awful rattle also check that the velcro tabs on the frontmost point of the screen cowling are locked into each other right in the middle of the headlight with a firm push its a pity cos apart from these common faults its a truly awsome bike

Regarding the master cylinder from the 636, how much of an improvement is this over standard.
Also, is it just the 05 636 model year I should be looking at?
Thanks

My 04 had a vibrating noise from the horn located under the ram air intake . Horn was too close to metal; easy to bend away a little after looking at it; Something you can easily check .. it solved the mystery noise I had two years ago...
