New to forum and have a question.
Guys, and gals, I'm new to the forum and to ZX land, I just picked up my '06 10R late yesterday. I've been a twins guy for years, TL1000S but I think I'm going to like this thing.
I know this must have been discussed to death but I did a search and drew a blank but what kind of bolt on cans are you guys running and recommending? And, where do you recommend getting them.
Thanks,
Wuff

Guys: Thanks for the reply. Does anybody have any experience with the Arata bolt ons. Those oval cans really look sharp.
Also has anyone had any issues with gear whine. It seems to be speed related rather than rpm related so I'm guessing its primary whine. I may just be paranoid since this thing is so quiet and you can hear everything. My TL has a full Yosh high mount system that drowned out everything.

Hi Mate
I have done 10,000 miles on my 04 10R and it has had a slight gear whine, especially in 6th, since new. I think that this is normal so carry on and enjoy! Hard not to listen to it once you notice it though eh?!
Cheers

Kev: You're right it does bug you some. My son said "awe dad that's normal my ZX6 does it too" but what do our kids know.
Ninja Turtle: Are your Akras bolt on's or slip ons. one of my other choices are the Arrows which are true slip ons and I sort of favor those. Plus Arrow has a mid pipe that may be a cat eliminator. If that is the case I could keep my head pipe with the power valve and get rid of the cat at the same time. But my fear is that the Arrow mid pipe is for their full system and not compatible with the stock Kaw head pipe. Anyway I've got to find this out. Anybody know for sure?

Arrow does offer a cat eliminator that allows you to still keep the stock exhaust system. But in order to run their "Slip-Ons", you'd have to use their mid-pipe which would eliminate the exhaust servo valve. The exhaust servo valve is located in the mid-pipe after the cats. In that case, you may want to do the cat eliminator, and a set of "Bolt-On" mufflers. That way you keep the valve if that's important to you.
If you consider going to a single muffler, our "Half System" eliminates the cats and exhaust servo valve and terminates into a single high mount muffler.

Akrapovic is a slip on and it connects behind the exup leaving the stock system mostly intact, takes minutes to install. Love the sound.

k bryant: You're right, I read somebody else's post without actually going to look at my own bike. That's what I get, anyway thanks for setting that straight. I do want to keep the servo but want to eliminate the cats so your advice is probably best. I looked at your site and even without the servo your system has good torque gains. Thanks again.
Lo: That Devil system is really sharp. There's getting to be some many options for the 06 now that there are a whole host of ways to part with your money.
