Anyone running 520 chain conversions?

What brand chain and sprokets?
How effective has anyone EXPERIENCED the RESULTS of the reduced rotating mass to be?
Accelleration?
Wear?

I found a product that claims to have 14,000 PSI tensile strength in a prestretched 520 chain, the highest I have ever found .

considering this with a bike making 185-195 RWHP.

What do the experienced guys think?

Thanks!

I was just thinking of going up a size not down. I have had to adjust my chain twice since new. i always get worried about my chain continuing to stretch. On my 12R i only had to adjust it once and it never stretched again but it was a 530. I was going to look into a 530 chain for the 10. what chain did you find? brand? model? i would be interested if its that strong.

Sidewinder Timax 520 chain.
I'm having reservations, as some have had bad things to say about em.
They have been in the dirt bike, and atv industry for years now

I went through the trend on my CBR900 ... I went down to the 520 but it made no noticable difference. I swaped sprockets going up 2 in the back instead of down 1 in the front because going down 1 in the front on most bikes will cause slack chains to dig into the chain guard on the swingarm. Also going up 2 will get more life out of the chaing. Now the BIGGEST problem you WILL have is if you use a aluminum sprockets....the 10 will no question about it strip the teeth within 8 months. I know because I have been doing this for years, ZX11, ZX9r, CBR900RR, R1, 02 R1,00R1, another CBR900RR and now the zx10. The 520 will be fine for stretching ... they all stretch a few times before settling in except maybe for the guys not letting the hammer down.

The quick kits are simply down 1 in the front ..... which is the same as 2.5 up in the back. Most everyone will tell you to go down 1 because its $30.00 cheaper and because someone told them to do it .... not because they really know what they are talking about.

I have enough trouble with the stock chain let alone going smaller. I wouldn't change the size especially on a street bike. The performance diference (if any at all) wouldn't be worth the decrease in chain life.

the sidewinder chain is the strongest 520 out there. the reason is the pins on the chain a larger than even a 530. the pitch is the same, the width is narrower. the zx10 has a 525 from the factory. i converted my 10 to the sidewinder 520 but 100/ths of a sec. is important to me. unless you are a professional like Ryan Schnitz, you will never see the differance, between the 2 chains the weight is about the same. the diff. would be in using lightened sprockets front titanium. aluminium rear and then as a combination maybe.100/ths of sec. that combo is not intended for long life or touring. it wont last.

most any bike will accept - 1 in front with no problem. if weight is an issue then up in rear is more. for certain bikes the motor torque and trans ratio comes into play. gearing up front moves the torque location and for racing long bikes its almost a have to. stock lenghths on most bikes are harder to get right based on all kinds a variables. rider weights, bike highths, power output. clutch style and use. and i am talking drag racing.
