Anyone else with 06 have this issue...

This is my second 06 and like the one before it I'm picking up a slight offset in the steering alignment or something; the left-side handlebar (on both) seems to be out (forward) by about 5mm or so.

I know it's not just me because it can be clearly felt when I go into a crouch and my left elbow is not where it's supposed to be.

According to the dealership it's easily resolved somehow by loosening some of the fork clamping bolts and moving the steering straight...I just find it an unbelievable coincidence that I've had 2 brand new bikes with exactly the same symptom.

Anyone else experiencing this?

PS: Came up against some Suzuki K5's today out riding on the highway and got wipped; twice. Not cool.

YES YES YES !!!! Measure your clipons from the outter edge to the START of the Rubber Grip. You will find your LEFT side is .25 inch (about 5mm) shorter!!. I had the same problem and the dealers siad it was perfect. Then bring out a F@#$ tape measure it will be exactly what I said. They want to sell me some clipons for my brand NEW bike. If you loosen your Right Throttle handle, Break and Kill switch you can move them in to be an exact match to the right. Now .... they have Plastic pins and the clipon is Drilled for the pins so you either have to snip ove the plastic or redrill the clipon .... you will never be able to get and Exact drill so just snip off the pastic. Once you get it back together your problem will go away. Also .... you can JUST TRY what I said by measureing, loosening then adjusting but NO SNIPPING ... just tighten it up until its snug then give it a test ried .

Please let me know how it goes.

I also purchased from Harris Fully Adjustable rearset for $550 because the dealer told me they are in stock. I paid in full and no the F@#$@#$ said they are not in stock so it will be at least 2 weaks before they have any word.

Brobin I think he's talking about a different problem. Think crooked handlebars on a bmx bike.

My zx9r is the same way, but I had never noticed when I first started riding it. I only knew after I became the designated jockey from my friends' bikes. If the clipon is only connected to the fork tube by pinch bolts, loosen them and spin the clipon to where you want it. I'm not sure if the 10 has one of the bolts that locks the clipon into place with the triple, but if it does...you won't be able to move it without giving up that bolt.

Also, there isn't an adjustment to align the triple clamps to get the bars straight. They go together one way, and one way only. They're locked in place by clamping the fork tubes. The only way you could have the top offset with the bottom would be if you had severely bent forks.

Loosen everything except the lower triple tree. That would be the upper tree and clip-on pinch bolts, steering stem nut, clip-on locator bolts, axle pinch bolts, and axle nut. Bounce the front end a few times and then tighten everything up. Sart with the axle and its pinch bolts, then the stem nut, then the upper tree, then the clip-on locators, then the clip-on pinch bolts. I have seen stuff move 1/2 inch.

Thanks for the responses guys; most of this is completely greek to me though...I'll get the dealership to sort this out, failing that I'll take the bike to someone that actually knows what a triple tree is!

I know, I know...but I put petrol in the tank and the thing converts ze petrol into speed - that's pretty much all I've needed to know about bikes. Glad to hear that I'm not the only one who's experienced this though.

PS: The K5's were stock as far as I could tell, except for slip-ons (PCIII unknown).
