Another 2006 ZX10 owner :)
Hi guys,
Been a while since I have posted but I think the occasion warrants it...my new 2006 ZX10 has finally arrived here in Cape Town (South Africa) this afternoon, so naturally I stopped all forms and manner of work and headed straight for the dealer to go admire my new "go to jail free" transportation device.
Love at first sight.
As I'm sure you have all heard before, the pictures do not quite do the new design justice. The appearance of the bike in real life just makes a statement; its all bussiness.
I dont' rate my old 05 or my new 06 ZX10 as "beautiful" bikes per se; I think my black Suzuki GSX-R1000 K6 has a much more "refined" look to it, but...in the same way a moderately attractive girl can become absolutely irresistable to you once she is animated in some or other activity and she reveals a particular character trait that strongly appeals to you, well, the 06 ZX10 is very attractive indeed.
Its design makes it immediatly apparent that it has one single purpose in this (uni)verse, and that is to convert fuel into speed, faster than most anything you can buy, borrow, build or steal.
Its not about winning pagents, its not about showing you what gear you are currently in as you navigate morning traffic, its not about saying "thanks Bob" with a quick flash of the hazzards as you overtake the old guy in his Porche while strolling along the ocean on a Sunday morning...its for those who enjoy the view from the cokpit the most and can appreciate a machine that somehow seems to be more than the some of its parts.
Although the black is certainly breathtaking, I would reconmend the green for one simple reason; it will an be an unmistakable early warning for the guys riding anything else to start moving out of the way so long when they see you approaching. 
The engine sound is rought at idle, but ever so sweet when you rev a little; so smooth, it sounds like an amplified electric motor...almost reminds me of the sound of the mini-blade, the CBR 600, but with more "depth".
Lastly, I'd like to leave you with a horror story:
Yesterday when the shipment of about 30 odd 06 ZX10's arrived here in South Africa, 10 or so of them were sent down to Cape Town (Southern tip of SA) and the other 20 or so was placed on a truck headed to Johannesburg (approx 860 miles North of Cape Town), but halfway there the driver of the truck fell asleep and rolled the truck...yes, blink twice and read that again. According to the dealership the insurance claim from Kawasaki SA equates to the total value of all 20 odd bikes, which implies that every single one of the bikes were totalled!
Holy shit...I'm still in shock after hearing it this afternoon.
