I forgot how much I love my 10

Winter has kept my bike in the garage for months, but today it was almost 60 so I took a short putt. Damn I love this bike. It is just a joy to ride. The thing just lofts the front wheel so easily, makes me smile every time.

Gasket, intake cam, degree, and while the head is off clean up and match everything at the seats. This thing is such a PITA to get out I aint going back in there for a while if I don't have to.

Ted as it turns out I have the Kwak that I'm NOT going to use since I found out the Muzzy one is thinner. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought the Muzzy gasket was the factory Kwak one... The good news is the Muzzy gasket seems to have dropped in price as of late

Gunner, think on the bright side.....it'll be so easy and accessible to do all of that work with the engine sitting right there in front of you. None of the bent-over-squeeze-your-hands-in-between-the-frame-rails bullshit you have to deal with when the engine is in there. How long did it take you to pull it? I'm wondering if it wouldn't just be easier to pull the engine to do my valve adjustment.

Taking my time and all I've screwed around with it 4 or 5 hours. One of the real PITA is all down around the throttle bodies. It's very hard to see what all has to be removed. If a fellow did this one or two times it wouldn't be too bad, BUT 1st time out it's a lot of shit to take loose. Now I've got to make an adpt fixture so it will fit the engine stand. Hanging it on a stand makes all the difference in the world when you start working on the motor. I would screw with one on a bench for anything.

So gunner, since you've now got experience pulling the 10's engine, are you giving all of bikeland's members an invitation to come and use your garage when it comes time to do our head gaskets? Ya know.....give us technical advice, let us use your tools, give us a place to stay, and let us drink your beer???

Damn I hope I can find the time to get all this stuff done. I better order some exhaust gaskets also.

Ted,

Just curious since you have both...how do you like the 10 compared to the 12? I now have the decision to make between the 10 and the 14. Since I'm 50 years old I'm leaning towards the 14. I will also have to decide if I keep the 12 and add the 14 or sell the 12 and get the 14.

Decisions, decisions...., decisions!!

Thanks,

No kidding, you have some choices to make.
Here is the deal with me. I bought the 10 without reading anything, I thought what the hell, it's a Kwak so it must be an animal and I spend most of my time riding twisty roads so why not? I had every intention of keeping my 12 because I had never ridden anything that was that much fun.
So now I get the 10 and start to break it in, it feels anemic especially when running at low RPM and I was dead sure the 12 was faster. Then I got an opportunity to really gas it in first gear when it was almost broken in. The damn thing let out a blood curdling shriek, lofted the front wheel and punted me forward like not even the 12 had done. I looked down, still in first and saw 104 on the speedo. Yeah baby. Then I got an opportunity to race a 10 with my 12 and the 10 got the better of the 12 in a few different scenarios. Damn Sam.
Ok I am 52, 5" 10" but still a kid at heart. I am actually more comfortable on the 10 than the 12. What I find hard to believe is how easy it is for me to ride the 10, everything is effortless. lofting the front wheel out of turns, spinning up the rear tire, I mean this thing is a hoot.
But alas I am going to sell the 12, I like the 10 so much. I absolutely loved my 12, but the 10 just suits me better. IMHO
You asked for it, you got it.

Ted after a call to MUZZYs today I was told that the gasket they sell is indeed the Kwak factory unit. It's the exact same gasket. I know their add says .3mm thinner and Kawak says .2mm thinner. Someone printed some wrong shit.

OK Ted here's a couple of stupid mistakes to watch out for. 1st don't forget to to loose the starter 12v wire. Do it at the top not the bottom. AND the kick stand safety switch is attached to a bracket on the oil pan. even though you unplug it it stays connected to the bracket. It's easy to overlook. Throttle bodies come out attached to the motor so don't even try and take them loose. YOU can't get to them anyway. Whoo Hoo there's a lot of mismatched shit in that intake trac!!!! FREE power just waiting to be blended out
