Dealer rep tells me to leave NYC bike show
We went to the NYC cycle world sponsored bike show today. I was checking out the new ZX 10/14 as a possible next bike when a dealer rep form STANTEN ISLAND KAWASAKI came by and try to hand me a card promoting a ten dollar off card. I told the woman giving the cards out to the crowd that I did not want a card and will not do business with Staten Island Kawasaki. She asked why. I said I had a bad dealing with them in the past with John their sales man. She said they have no one named John. I then pointed the guy out and she said that is her uncle and I was NOT WELCOME IN THEIR STORE. No biggie because I was not going to do business with them any way.
She went back to handing out her cards and left me alone. As a potential customer I was a little put off by the Kawasaki dealing at this point. But it got A LOT WORSE. As I continued to check out a potential purchase I was again bothered by another STATEN ISLAND KAWASAKI REPRESENTITIVE. He also was trying to hand me a card promoting STATEN ISLAND KAWASAKI. I told him that I was not interested and that some girl try to hand me the same card and got pissy when I told her that I would not do business with them.
He said I must have done something to piss her off. I said if telling her I don't like the a person that I dealt with at their dealership pissed her off then oh well. He then called me an ASSHOLE and try to start a confrontation. We went back and forth with his only dialog being calling me an asshole over and over.
I Went to the Kawasaki Reps that were near the display to lodge a complaint. They in tern got a another KAWASKI rep to come hear my complaint. He came over and listened to my complaint. I asked for the dealer rep to be removed from he floor if all he could do was harass and verbally abuse the customers. He gave me a courtesy listen but did absolutely nothing. He asked me to Email him a letter about the incident.
He is a district manager east region. I asked for his card and he gave it to me. But did nothing to rectify the situation. A simple apology from STATEN ISLAND KAWASAKI rep would have done.
Since Kawasaki reps failed to remove this jerk from the public I am now looking to contact Kawasaki heavy industries and lodge a formal complaint. Any body with any contact info for Kawasaki can PM me to cut my red tape.
All this from someone that bought 5 Kawasaki motorcycles since 89. Two of them from Staten Islanld Kawasaki.
KAWASKI IS THIS HOW YOU TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS?
What a terrible time due to Kawasaki.

That is why I brought it here. I figured someone from Kawasaki or someone here would have some contact info.
All I want to do is draw attention to what is a very bad public relations problem. A simple apology and the removal of the sales rep would have solved this problem. Instead I got a brush off. I guess my past business was not good enough for Kawasaki. I doubt there will be future business if this is the way I will be treated.
Bravous is doing real well. Thanks for asking. He or should I say I am enjoying this very unusual weather we are having. Nothing like mid January temps in the 60's. We just did a Boy Scout Demo last weekend. Had about 100 kids that all wanted to go hide so Bravous could find them. We did about fifty finds. The kids faces where great when Bravous found them. One kid was good he back tracked his steps and looped around a few times thinking the dog would just get confused. Maybe if we where tracking that would have slowed him down. We where air scenting so this didn't even slow him down. It was a great day for all.

Yes I deal with Long Island Kawasaki now. They are ACES.
But that is not the point these people where there not only representing their dealer they where there representing Kawasaki. In that capacity they must be held responsible for their GOTTI KIDS attitude towards the customer.

I was just gonna paste yer thread over here for the assist but seems like ya beat me to it.
You should get some kind of a response here.
Sure does suck when sumthin like this goes down at that type of an event, it really becomes a no-win situation for everyone involved.
The actual Kawi rep was likely very understanding with his "courtesy listen" but I would imagine that instead of escalating what was already an unpleasant situation in a very public setting, he chose to deal with it in some other manner.
Sure hope ya get some input from the "higher ups".

Long Island Kawasaki in Hicksville. Mike is the owner there and is a top notch guy. Bill runs the service department and is also a pretty decent guy.
Good deals, very honest and fair. What a dealer should be.

I know it is a petty complaint and I only have spent fourty five thousand in bikes and parts in the last ten years but I did expect a little interest over the treatment of customers at an International Bike show in one of the biggest cities in the world. Tsk Kawasaki tsk.

Hey Rhino - that sucks . I know its a bit of a drive for you, but I always go to a GREAT Kawi dealer on RT 23 North in Pompton Plains New Jersey. If you want the address, phone number and other contact details I'll post them up for you. They have ALWAYS treated me right (very fair) and I've been a customer since 92 (with my old zx-11c).
