steering stem nut

cruising around yesterday i happened to look down and the steering stem nut and washer were laying in front of my tank, have 200 miles on an 04 zx10, any else had a problem with this, also what is torque spec on this

58 Ft pounds for that nut. 04zx10 it's been well noted that several bikes have had this problem, BUT!!!! NOT noticing it until it falls completely off is unexcusable. Maintenance your bike before someone collects your life insurance. I would start at the axles and move up.

Also check the spanner nuts that are under the top clamp. They're probably NOT tightened correctly either. This is where tank slappers start.

as far as maintaining bike, i paid for a new bike and ASSUMED it was up to par for a couple hundred miles. was planning a check over on entire bike at 500 miles, didnt think a NUT WOULD COME OFF!!!!!!!!

part of the PDI and also part of the first check at 600 miles... yer responsible to check them bolts! if you bought it new from a dealer then get them to recheck everything!

Well, Now you know better... There are many grave yards full of people that ASSUMED that someone else took care of shit that got them killed. NOW! ASSUME that every bolt on the bike is loose and check them all. It's a simple solution to living long enough to see what Kawasaki builds 5 years from now.. NEVER ASSUME anything.
