fellow rider went down yesterday
There was four of us out ridding monday, and I decided I had to split first, so everyone rides to my house with me and then leaves. I get a call 30 minutes later, buddie saying that chet went do doin' 60, he was messn' around in town and saw a cop so he tried to stop but lost controll on all of the sand left over from the snow. The guys said he slid about 100 ft. and ripped off the right side of his bike. He was only wearing a crappy leather coat. needless to say his hands are toast for now and so are his knees. They had to take him out of town to do skin work. The bright side is that at least he was able to walk away. The quys are finally starting to follow suit after me in getting their protective gear. I never used to were it when i fist started ridding because i didn't know any better but inbetween bikes most of the people I rode with went down at some time in the time span of me not having a bike. Unfortunatly one was never able to leave the scene. None of which ever wore gear. That's why i wear, I want to be able to walk away with most of my skin intact, some times it's a pain in the ass but it will save your life. If you don't wear any gear at least wear gloves and a helmet. you can't do much with out your hands or your brains hangn' out.

Sorry to hear that your friend had to learn a painful lesson. Gear saves lives and painful skin grafts!

I'm just lucky I learned through other people experience and didn't have to go through first hand. And, I'm glad my first bike was kinda' wimmpy.

sorry to hear about your buddy.....took a hard get off for me to learn to wear my gear all the time as well.....sucks we have to so hard headed....
