How do I increase the battery in the 10R?

My concern is that I am going to be hooking up too much stuff to my new 10R when I get it, so does anyone make a stronger battery that will replace the stock battery?

I plan on running the following items, which will all draw current:

Escort Radar Detector
Escort Laser Jammer
Legal Speeding H.A.R.D. system
Aerostitch Heated Bar Grips
Gerbing/Vanson Heated Liner
GPS

Can this be done??

yeah, the heated grips and liner are the onyl things of significance. do u actaully have the current draw for each listed somewhere? in either case, a higher capacity battery (dont' need more CCA, just more amp hours) won't help if you're on a LONG trip if you aredrawing more than your generator produces. however if u'r turning the heaters on and off or just using it on smaller trips with non-heater trips or a battery tender/charger in between, it will supply the additional power needed.

Yeah, it occurred to me this afternoon that a bigger alternator would suffice more than a battery. Can you up the alternator in motorcycles? If so, who makes them? Would this void any Kawi warranty?

honestly i suspect u'll prolly have enough output frmo the alternator to power what u listed. again, only the grips and liner are gonan eat any real power (electronics are truly insigificant), and assuming combined they arent too much over 100W, i dont foresee u having any problems. on my 12 (before i crashed it) i ran 80/100W bulbs, meaning some 70 to 80W more power draw than with stock bulbs, and it never had an issue. if they do run considerably more (150W or more) i suspect u may still be able to get by as long as the engine isn't idling. keep the revs up a bit and u'r gonna get more juice from the alternator (to an extent, i dont know how the whole output vs RPM curve looks).

I've got a BMW K1200LTe, It has everything above mentioned, except the Legal Speeding H.A.R.D.. system which I haven't a clue, the Beemer has a CD/CB/.AM/FM/Cass so that probably cancels out the HARD thing. I replaced the battery after the first year, now I use a battery maintainer, and the battery has lasted over two years. Just plug your bike in when not in use and you'll have nothing to worry about.

My 10 is for riding hard not commuting, your tires aren't meant for cold roads, be careful. Buy yourself a rusty cage for the winter and forget about all that stuff.

alternator output on the BMW is probably a lot more than the ZX10.....prolly not the best comparison.

But the advice on the battery tender is a good one.......I think bikes should come with them installed from the factory.....espicially for those people in the colder climates....
