First test of the 06 ZX-10R!!!
MCN: Latest: Tuesday Nov 15:
We drove about an hour to get to the circuit, passing through an amazing flat valley surrounded by active volcanos. As we went up into the mountains, it looked like Yorkshire, but with active volcanos. And then we were at the vast Autopolis circuit which was bought by Kawasaki last year.
It was where this ZX-10R was developed and it's a mad circuit - you go round an off-camber lefthander and then the circuit just drops away on you.
My initial impressions from the first session are that the riding position is still radical, they've developed an even more hardcore track bike. But the power delivery is a bit more friendly. The old bike had all the power at the top like a two-stroke, but the new ZX has more linear power.
I think it might be faster than a GSX-R100, although I thought I was going for it, until some guy called Doug Chandler just glides past.!
Does anyone subscribe to MCN? The November 23 issue of MCN will have a complete report on the 06 ZX-10R. Any chance of posting it?

This sounds like bikeland's deal in 2004:
Marc's trip includes two days of riding on Kawasaki's own test track, a tour of the company's factory, dinner with some of Kawasaki's top men and a question and answer session with the ZX-10R development team.

Sounds like it'll be another journalist masterbating on whatever Japan gives him to ride. I wanna see these mags get an independent group of reasonably fast guys on a comparo. Same tires, same track, compare lap times. Then figure out what simple (not free or cheap, just simple, as in bolt and go) mods can un-suck whatever's just stupid wrong with the bikes and retest with the fixes in. One of those dork publications had Chandler something like 2 seconds faster on the 10r over the gixxer last year. Get fucking real. How is having the factory's guy go faster on their bike anything like useful in making a decision? There is zero meat in these evals anymore. Just a lot of ass sucking and blather. The other thing they need to do is get bikes off the showroom floor. Not only would the results be more realistic, but just think of all the useful info they could share about what to look for in the way of fucked over assembly /set-up work. News you can use.

Masterbike is close. You still don't get a complete picture. Some bikes have glaring deficiencies that can be easily corrected and they don't investigate that. They also run what the factory gives them (usually).

I'll nip out & try to get a MCN tomorrow (they did a good write up on the '03 ZX-10R, PDF on their site)
If no one else does I'll try to post some info here soon as.
They do an e-subs on their site if that's any use. I don't subscribe as I'm only really interested in Kwaks & there's too much waste paper otherwise.
