Newbie Qs on Major Services

I'm seriously considering buying a 2005 10R with the $1000 factory incentive driving OTD prices way down. A local dealer is advertising $7999 but fees/etc are extra. We'll see if $8500 on the road will fly or not. A couple questions:

What is the valve adjustment interval? Any other major service intervals? What is the usual cost of those major services? I normally do most of the easy maintenance, but leave things that get into the motor or require special tools (throttle body sync) to the dealer.

Thanks!

I dont remember the exact number but the valve clearance interval is between 24000 and 26000 miles.

Valve adjustment is every 15,000 miles - prices are averaging around $500.00 at local dealers here in SoCal (for 15k service).

Thanks for the info. 15,000 mile intervals isn't too bad. My Triumph needs them every 12,000. I'm into SPORT-touring, so I put on lots of miles (20K/year). I'm figuring the Ten with (maybe) a few ergo tweaks would make a truly sick SPORT-touring bike (think 400 mile days of WV twisties).

Here's a money saving suggestion regarding valve clearance checks:
If you're competent enough to use a feeler gauge, I would suggest checking your valve clearances yourself. This is the easy part, and more than likely they won't need adjusting anyway.

If you measure the valves to be in spec, then button up the valve cover, and you're back on the road. If you measure them out of spec, then you can take the bike to the dealer and have them perform the actual adjustment.
