How to Avoid wheelieing?
My zx10r keeps wheelying when I don't want it to and it is a pain to cover the rear brake. It makes it hard to run super fast roll-ons and quartermile times. What things can I do to avoid wheelieing? 1. I know about lowering the front end 2. extending the swingarm 3. keeping my weight forwards as possible 4. what else? I hear people say something about adjusting the shocks for quarter mile runs, ect? Who has instructs on this? maybe loosening the front suspension and tightening the rear or maybe loosening the rear? Don't know myself. anyone? Also, anything else?

Slam it and get an arm...that's all that will really fix it.

You can get a Wheelie Master from Schnitz Racing that, via a sensor detecting absolutely full extension of the front suspension and cutting ignition to one cylinder (or if necessary two) only at that absolute full extension keeps power right on the edge of the maximum possible without wheelie, which is also the maximum actual acceleration.
Would be more elegant IMO if it worked via momentary retard instead of (momentarily) killing a cylinder, and actually I may at some point find a way to make it work that way only as part of doing other things, but it works well enough as is. Grab all the throttle you want, the bike will accelerate at the maximum possible (assuming no wheelspin), simple as that. I have only used it on the 12 not the 10 but I would think it would work the same basic way.

1) Just don't twist the throttle
OR
2) Sell it and buy a 250 Ninja - you shouldn't have too much problem wheeling there.

you got a 10R and you want to know how NOT to wheelie.
Slip, slip, SLIP that clutch.
Right click, save as

all you can do is be eazier on throttle....changing the sitting on the suspension helps but you'll still need too control the throttle better the bike is a monster..lowering and stretching take the fun ouy of riding on the street dont do that unless your going to drag.

Seems like his post is related to drag racing. To go faster, you have to be more aggressive with the throttle. Control the wheelie with the clutch.
Practice. It's much easier said than done, especially on a stock wheelbase bike.

If I was to complain about the wheelie characteristics of the 10 I'd have to say that it doesn't wheelie easy enough. But that is just my two cents worth.

Shit...I am 255 pounds and can not keep my wheel down in 1st at all...at launch I have to limit too much throttle due to the wheel lifting. and dont get me started on 1st gear roll-ons...if i barely roll-on the throttle half-way the front shoots straight up.

That's funny... must suck being at higher elevations.
6'4" 225 lbs
stock bike 'cept Micron slip on high-mount
laying on the tank to the point of my visor almost touching the windscreen
1st gear above 8 or 9000 and wack throttle, front end comes up and you can't stop it, comes up high and won't stop coming up till I roll off throttle
2nd gear above 9000 front end comes up and will stay off the ground till I roll off throttle
3rd gear above 10500 front end hovers off the ground
That's what happens when trying to stop it...
If I'm trying to pop the front end up, 1st gear around 5000, roll off, back on and it comes up, how high & fast just depends on how hard I do it... doing that around 8 or 9000 would probably result in looping it.
For clarification, I'm on the street, and "wacking it open" probably means 3/4's throttle MAX will yield these results, save for 3rd gear power wheelies where I have to be on it pretty hard....

Yes it does suck at higher elevations, no way it will come up in 2nd here at 4500 feet. Although I went to Downieville (in the middle of BFE connected by very twisty roads) and it is at about 3000 feet and I was able to loft it in second, but I had to have it wound up pretty tight and there are no straights for 40 miles in either direction, so one has to loft it and follow the turn at 110-120ish. It is so much fun.

if your trying to drag i say lower it make nessary adjustments to supension....I watch guys run 9.2s all day on stock 10s when i ask what they did too bike all they say lower it go down 1 tooth up front on sprocket and powercomanders...two guys the one day both had the bikes set up like that but one had stock pipe on and one had a muzzy and they said the pipe dont make a difference....i mean of corse lots of practice too so spend alot of tine on the track and ask people at the track to they be having the best advice

Please keep in mind that a guy your size and weight is probably sitting way back on the seat. That is probably causing you some problem as well. Weight placement is a huge factor with any type of situation like you're having.

Being heavy doesn't mean it keeps the front down any easier, maybe the opposite. 2nd gear at full throttle on my little test ride didn't lift the front on the stock 10 I rode awhile back or my not-stock 12 or my lightened 954. The front tire gets light but not off the ground. I'm only 165lbs.
Think Center of Gravity
Look at where the weight is, the rider sits on TOP of the bike, a heavier rider has to deal with a higher center of gravity because you're adding weight at and far above it's center of gravity. Now look at the rider's position, we lean forward on sportbikes but don't sit our weight on our hands, the seat(where most the weight sits) is almost over the back tire which is alot closer than the front tire. Even laying on the tank, which does help, still all the rider's weight is on the seat, especially when you take off. Of all the sportbikes I've rode I've never had any problems keeping the front down in 2nd gear, hell, I've never had the front lift at all in 2nd.
1st gear just practice finding a good launch rpm that won't bog the motor(start low and work up) and keep the revs above that much as you use the clutch to launch the bike. After you get the most out of that look at lowering the center of gravity(lowering bike or going on diet) or moving it forward(lengthening).

Doesnt wheelie easy enough???? am I reading that right? Stock I can clutch mine in 3rd gear, adn on the track it will pull the front tire off the ground through 5th? How freaking much easier can ya get??? If this dont get it for wheeling, than buy a turbo and put on it.....
Not saying you can ride a wheelie in 5th, just tha tit will pull the tire up off the ground.....
Keith code dows a wheelie school.....lmbo....
And as far as how NOT to wheelie it.....learn throttle control......! ! !

LOL! Too funny!
Try short shifting (think large displacement thumper/dual sport), otherwise drink as much beer in your non riding times to beef up a little.

Well I am an experienced and good rider....but man I can't fully use my throttle punch which activates the PC3 accelerator function...when ever I give it about 90-100% throttle really quick, the thing shoots out, but if I give it gradual throttle the bike is much slower...I am guessing it is the PC3 which is affecting it and making it shoot out of the blocks with throttle response, although it did it when it was new also...I can control the throttleto an extent but this bad boy is pumping 170 rwhp plus -1 front tooth....this bad boy wants to go go go
